Job description
We are looking for a very experienced passionate and personable individual to join the established team at our historic setting (which has been open for over 150 years in Kew, Richmond) and are named after the famous tarts we bake. We are a traditional English tea rooms/restaurant with a shop and also a few boutique hotel rooms. We serving our own hand-made foods for breakfast, luncheon and afternoon tea including pies, cakes, baked goods and more. We also post some of our goods.
We are currently open daytimes only, 7 days a week. The role is for full time so 40 - 46 hours per week. The real rate of pay range advertised is aggregate and includes the share of gratuities/service charge (shared by all staff) and based on 40 - 46 hours. We would consider amending our requirement to 2 part-time roles/job-sharing to get the best staff.
The special individual will have experience of working in a busy restaurant, cafe or similar 'challenging' hospitality environment. All normal front of house duties (that you will be well aware of!) plus customer service and attending to hotel guests and preparing the set teas for restaurant customers and postal orders. You will have a hands-on approach and an eye for detail with old-fashioned service and essentially always doing a great job (which will not go unnoticed) no matter what your endeavours or how busy we are.
Our team enjoys a lively and friendly working atmosphere from Front and Middle of House through to Kitchen, Bakery and Patisserie departments

Both our Tea Rooms on Kew Road and Cafes in The National Archives are much loved in the community. The Tea Rooms are opposite Kew Botanical Gardens and the National Archives are situated by Kew Retail Park and the River Thames. Kew Village and Kew Green boast a variety of lovely shops and pubs. Richmond Town Centre is also nearby with all that a busy high street can offer and Richmond Park is beautiful all year round.
