Job description
LCP is an award-winning actuarial and analytics consultancy providing advice on energy, pensions, investments, employee benefits, insurance and health.
Are you looking to embark upon your career as an actuary in the exciting, fast-changing world of Insurance? If so, then you have come to the right place!
What will you be doing?
At LCP the work we do involves assessing the risks associated with future events. We advise clients on how much money they should set aside now, to be able to cover uncertain payments in the future and how that money should be invested. As an Analyst, you’ll be involved in analysis and modelling to supply the answers and then communicating these to our clients in a way that’s simple, clear, and easy to understand. There are plenty of opportunities for client contact at the beginning of your career, whether by email, phone, face-to-face meetings, or corporate events.
As an analyst in the Insurance Consulting department specifically you will be helping with advising general insurance companies on reserving and financial risk management, building models to calculate capital requirements, and helping insurance companies meet the Solvency II regulatory requirements. You will also have the opportunity to support the development of our analytics tools, using R and Python, including our multi-award-winning reserving platform InsurSight.
Alongside this, you will have access to our Graduate Training Programme which features a series of scheduled training sessions. These cover a wide range of areas of professional expertise as well as in-depth technical training. At the same time, we'll give you training in a variety of non-technical areas to help you develop your management and presentation skills.
As a consultancy, a key part of our work involves presenting advice and ideas to our clients in a way that is clear and easy to understand. We realise that for some, this will be a new experience - and possibly a daunting prospect! But there's no need to worry. Our training programme is specifically designed to help you develop the skills and confidence you need to be a successful consultant. And initiatives such as "LCP Speaking Club" and "LCP Xtra" offer additional opportunities for you and your peers to practise your presentation skills in-house before you put them to the test in front of clients.
Of course, much of your training will be on the job, and we make sure this is structured to offer you the widest possible experience in all aspects of what we do. Finally, we have an in-house mentoring system, so there is always someone you can ask if anything seems unclear. You'll be amazed at how quickly you'll be putting what you learn to good use in your everyday work.
What's in it for you?
As well as joining a fun, collaborative, people orientated organisation where your personal and professional skills will be developed to make you the best you can be, we offer an attractive benefits package designed to promote your overall wellbeing so that you are able to perform to your full potential both in and out of work.
We continuously strive to build an inclusive workplace where all forms of diversity are valued, including age, background, disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, race, religion or sexual orientation.
LCP is committed to making our opportunities accessible to all. If you would like to talk to someone about any adjustments you may need to assist with your application process, please contact Emma Lindley in our Early Careers recruitment team by emailing [email protected] to arrange a confidential conversation.
