Job description
Location: Hybrid - Travel to Northampton or London 1-2 times per month
Salary: £60,000 + 10% bonus
Hours: 37.5
We’re hiring a superstar Group SEO Manager. We are a portfolio of brands across travel and pet insurance spanning direct to consumer sales, price comparison and a new yet-to-be-launched offering. We need a SEO expert to join our digital marketing team and lead SEO efforts for three websites: two for UK travel insurance and one for expat sales across France, Portugal, and Spain.
You’ll be solely responsible for them – but will be working alongside a SEO Manager who works on an additional three brands, a Technical SEO Manager and our SEO Content Editors. So, you’ll have fellow SEOs to bounce ideas off – but your own sites to work on and targets to achieve.
We’ll want you to lead on SEO strategy, co-ordinate with our content team (who are SEO-savvy) and manage agencies for offsite activity, including digital PR. Proven experience of offsite SEO and digital PR are key.
We’re a small, focused team with big ambitions – so you’ll need to be hands-on but able to think about the long term, too, working closely with Head of Digital, who has a search background.
You will be the go-to source of all SEO knowledge for your brands, with the ability to answer complex technical queries in plain English. You will attend internal meetings and advise on specific SEO topics during projects and during the business-as-usual activities of a busy, multi-product organisation. Key to the role will be proactively identifying issues, monitoring reporting tools for changes, and identifying solutions. A keen desire to question, learn and optimise is essential.
You and your role.
- Set and manage the SEO strategy, working with the Head of Digital and agencies
- Manage all elements of SEO across agencies and the content and developer teams
- Work closely with the Technical SEO Manager to identify and implement technical optimisations
- Build strong working relationship with developers, designers, editors and other colleagues to ensure SEO is at the forefront of their thinking
- Deliver an offsite strategy, working with partners, across outreach and digital PR
- Work with external agency partners to supplement in-house SEO knowledge and resource
- Deliver the strategy, execution and monitoring of SEO in one-off projects
- Closely monitor the domains for changes that are detrimental to SEO, identifying root cause, solutions and flagging to the relevant team.
- Be comfortable and excited about working with several brands at different stages of maturity
- Ensure suppliers and internal colleagues deliver reports and tasks on time to a high level of accuracy and quality
- Keep up to date with industry developments, including algorithm updates and reputable/reliable SEO industry best practice
- Monitor competitor activity, promptly communicating change and quickly actioning any resulting changes
Experience required:
- Experience of SEO tools – eg Searchmetrics, Majestic, SEOMonitor, Screaming Frog and SEMRush.
- Strong attention to detail and a curiosity about SEO are vital
- Strong SEO analytical skills, with experience of GA360 and GSC
- Understanding of website technologies and an awareness of website development and coding
- A clear understanding of how search fits into the overall marketing mix
