You will be responsible for leading the urban design and master-planning direction in the UK with our clients across their complex multi-disciplinary projects. You will be focused on master planning projects within the region and international collaborations, while also gaining exposure to a wide range of design experiences within our full portfolio of integrated disciplines.

We are seeking an energetic, self-starter to join our UK team working on a range of high-profile, complex projects including master plans, specific plans, vision studies, and concept-driven design efforts.
You will be responsible for leading the urban design and master-planning direction in the UK with our clients across their complex multi-disciplinary projects. You will be focused on master planning projects within the region and international collaborations, while also gaining exposure to a wide range of design experiences within our full portfolio of integrated disciplines.
- In close consultation with the Head of Architecture, lead the development of creative and innovative design concepts on a broad range of urban design and master planning projects.
- Develop and advance conceptual and schematic designs on projects and prepare compelling and immersive 3D and 2D diagrams that communicate strategy and design.
- Analyse and document project influences of urban design and master planning projects.
- Assist with site planning and programming, footprint layouts, development calculations, massing and architectural design
- Where required, participate in public, client and other project meetings.
- Manage and engage key internal and external stakeholders effectively to drive project process, resolve issues, achieve excellence in project deliverables and overall objectives
- Collaborate with other members of the Urban Design Group to develop and advance conceptual and schematic designs on urban design and master planning projects
- Prepare graphic/narrative reports and presentations that communicate the design process, research, and concepts
- Assist in managing client expectations, team communication and consultant coordination
- Enhance and optimize designs using rapid and iterative simulation techniques.
- Act as a team member in coordinating and reviewing of work product.
- Contribute to office activities, initiative and learning programs.
- Interact through projects and other office wide initiatives with other offices and practice areas.
- The preparation and co-ordination of project information and its timely issue to the Client, Contractor and/or the Project Team as required.
- Job planning including fee against resources, maintaining fortnightly from worksheets, advising the Head of Department of changes in resource requirements.
- Responsible for the co-ordination of concept and detail design information within the constraints quality, time and costs.
- Ensuring that project files are set up and processes comply with our QA procedures.
- Liaise with the Head of Architecture to facilitate and hold design and technical reviews.
- Take a proactive approach in respect of advice to clients to improve value on all aspects of service delivery.
- Be aware of and highlight business opportunities to the Management Team, in respect of existing clients or introductions to new clients and new opportunities.
- Be a fully qualified Architect with a Master’s Degree in Urban Planning/Urban Design/Architecture.
- Strong level of expertise and experience in urban planning or urban design practices with proven background in creative collaboration with multi-disciplinary teams, from concept through to later stages.
- Knowledge and passion for working on a variety of urban design & master planning projects across multiple sectors.
- Knowledge and understanding of building components and typologies and their relationship to public space and urban infrastructure.
- Working knowledge of planning laws, policies, and regulatory tools.
- Self-motivated, organized and reliable along with a professional approach.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task.
- The ability to complete tasks with accuracy and with strong attention to detail.
- GIS Mapping & database skills are preferred.
- Creative initiator who brings curiosity, enthusiasm and a “can do” attitude.
- Desire to develop strong leadership, management, and mentoring skills.
- The ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, and demonstrate a competency presenting ideas and concepts.
- Proficiency working in Autodesk Revit is preferred, but training can be provided.
