About the department
At abrdn, our Test & Implementation team (50+ team members) is an exciting place to be! We look to design and develop strategies that drive and organise to automation focused processes – concentrating on quality assurance and fast delivery to market. We have a complete ownership of crating test automation solutions, designing automation frameworks and leading the implementation test strategy. We define automation best practises aligned with abrdn business goals and align with processes and tolls, ensuring quality of work delivered is high. We provide test solutions for cutting edge wealth management application and products for a global investment company.
About the role
Abrdn are seeking Senior Test Automation Engineer to report to the Head of Testing & Implementation and to be part of a rapidly scaling and market-leading FinTech business. As a Senior Test Automation Engineer you will be working closely with our Automation Architect on developing and maintaining our automated framework and tests by using business selected tools. Successful candidate in this role will be able to provide senior input into the automation test team, provide technical leadership in design and development of our automated tests, and will ensure adoption and support of automation across the QA teams in the organisation.
  • Hand on experience in developing and maintaining Automated Tests for Services & UE by using latest automation tools and methodologies
  • Experience in writing automated tests by using BDD & TDD framework with tools such as Cucumber
  • A good understanding of design principles and writing clean code
  • Experience in developing test solutions and testing software in Java / JavaScript / C# languages
  • Experienced in working with CD/CI pipeline environment
  • A passion to improve processes, tools, methodologies & overall quality of the products / systems
  • A strong foundation in testing enterprise software systems
  • Understanding of testing concepts, methodologies & processes
  • Work closely with testers, developers, product team & Bas to define & develop the best possible test solution
  • Define & implement processes 7 best practices related to test automation
  • Ensure defects are raised as per the defect management process by using tools such as JIRA & Azure DevOps
  • Raising any test automation compliance issues to the test managers
  • Work with the test managers & project teams to develop & maintain automated functional 7 regression tests in line with defined scripting standards
  • An understanding of the software product development lifecycle & test processes
Skills and Experience
  • Bright, highly self-motivated and drive with a professional and positive approach
  • Ability to work independently, mentor & collaborate with team members
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and completely, to multi-task and stay organised in a dynamic work environment
  • Ability to provide test estimations & testing approach to the PO & Team
  • Ability to understand business requirements 7 processes to define test plans with continuous review of scope & testability of all requirements
  • Ability to work closely with the team so sing off on the quality of new releases following the agile release patterns
  • Experience in API testing framework such as rest assured & programming languages
  • Experience in creating new UI & API automated tests & investigate test failures
  • Experience in triaging defect with product & test team
  • Experience in investigation of defect reported by stakeholders / end users & support the team to find the root cause & identify the correct fixes & test coverage
  • Experience in performing manual / exploratory testing against new features, as well as writing effective test coverage
  • Experience in agile ceremonies and provision of continual improvements to current processes
  • Experience in extending test automation solution to integrate with 3rd party tools & products/systems
