Job description
Role Title: Senior Technical Manager x 2
You will be joining a small team of technical consultants working across a range of wastewater, biowaste and sludge treatment processes to deliver positive results for our customers. The consultancy part of the business is intimately linked with our site (sampling) services, and our 'on the ground' expertise in process troubleshooting and optimisation is particularly valued. Our practical focus also differentiates us from other consultancy businesses.
We have ambitious plans for growth in 2023, including new services supporting wastewater treatment outside the UK and new partnerships with other businesses to provide end-to-end technical solutions. To support these aspirations we're looking to recruit two new team members, both with a strong technical knowledge base and a demonstrable track record of hands-on delivery.
We have clients in the municipal, commercial and industrial sectors operating a range of aerobic and anaerobic wastewater / effluent treatment technologies - but we do not expect candidates to be familiar with all technologies across all sectors and have broken the experience and skills we're looking for into required and desirable categories.
Purpose of role • Scope, manage and deliver technical site / consultancy services across one or more of the following sectors: o Municipal wastewater treatment o Industrial effluent treatment o Anaerobic digestion (sewage sludge and commercial / merchant plants) • Mentor and support junior staff • Identify and create new opportunities

Main responsibilities • Project management and delivery of Aqua Enviro's technical site / consultancy services, including planning and costing work, with project values up to £2 million • Writing and approving technical reports, including analysis and interpretation of data • Presenting information to clients, colleagues and peers at informal and formal events (including industry-facing conferences) • Mentoring and development of Aqua Enviro technical team members • Supporting Business Development colleagues through client liaison, proposal development and sharing of market intelligence • Ensuring compliance with QHSE and other company procedures
Required experience • Significant and demonstrable previous experience operating, optimising and troubleshooting wastewater treatment (municipal and/or industrial) or anaerobic digestion facilities in the UK • Project management • Report writing - covering site and desk-based technical investigations • Client engagement and interaction • Staff mentoring / development • Full UK driving license
Desirable experience Line management
Required skills / expertise • Master's degree (or equivalent) in wastewater/effluent treatment, mechanical, chemical, civil or environmental engineering • IOSH H&S or equivalent • Proficient user of Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel • Excellent presentation and report-writing skills

Personal attributes • Self-starting and driven, with a proven track record of delivering projects both within and beyond core areas of expertise • Strong technical knowledge-base, with a problem-solving attitude • Excellent team working and communication skills, with an ability to bring people along with them on a journey - whether colleagues or clients • Comfortable representing your expert views to colleagues and clients • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, able to foster and develop strong relationships with clients • Hands-on
