GOAL AND POSITION OVERVIEW Cannery Hall is one of the largest independent and one of the few independent music venues in Nashville. The Senior Talent Buyer functions under the supervision of and in coordination with the General Manager, and is required to help develop, schedule, coordinate and effectively communicate the needs of all at risk concert programming. This position is responsible for cultivating the music brand of the Cannery Hall, which also reflects the music tastes and styles of Nashville locals and tourists alike. The Talent Buying team is ultimately responsible for creating a following for the Cannery Hall brand. Note: NO RELOCATION IS PROVIDED; candidates must be in Nashville area. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Directly responsible for driving ticket sales for all Cannery Hall programming, and assists the team in growing and supporting group, corporate, and wedding business. 2. Works in coordination with the General Manager to consistently brand the overall Cannery Hall brand as a tastemaker, friendly and representative of the community. 3. Interacts with other facility staff to facilitate planning and scheduling of events and to ensure efficient management of daily activities to assure the delivery of service and to promote in-house events; monitors event requirements and how they interface with other facility events and activities. 4. Supervises the Box Office Manager position. 5. Create and implement annual marketing and public relations plan. 6. Continually develop and maintain a publicity database for programming announcements and distribution. 7. Create and implement show advertising budgets with extremely creative out-of-the-box promotions with local radio stations and/or sponsors to drive ticket sales. 8. Launch Cannery Hall social media channels (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, Tiktok, Snapchat, etc.) with creative and effective ongoing content creation. Work with DZL Management Sponsorships to increase neighborhood opportunities and facility awareness through strong, long-lasting partnerships 10. Work closely with the Cannery Hall Talent Buyer to promote programming for optimal awareness and revenue growth 11. Makes or arranges for last-minute adjustments in room or equipment set up at the request of the lessee or to assure compliance with safety measures and prepares an accurate statement of additional changes for settlement purposes. 12. Coordinates and directs contract and event support staff (as it relates to marketing and ticketing); provides functional supervision of box office staff. 13. Prepares cost estimates and bids as needed for use by facility or promoter; arranges and performs event settlement at conclusion of the event; maintains records of individual events and collects statistical data on usage; maintains mailing lists and event files. 14. Assumes responsibility for resolving problems during course of assigned events; receives and responds to complaints from tenants, patrons, and the public. 15. Ensures compliance with departmental policies and procedures, especially pertaining to areas of financial and legal exposure for the Cannery music venues. 16. Creates an accurate annual budget for the Marketing Department and Box Office. a. Maintains/Oversees budget in a fiscally responsible manner. i. Manage this process with direct reports and monitor status for reforecasting purposes. ii. Regularly monitors any revenue pieces through appropriate reports. iii. Regularly monitors expenses and monthly monitoring through thorough review of financials received from the DZL Accounting Office. b. Notifies supervisor immediately of any impending non-trivial variances (revenues or expenses) as soon as they become evident. 17. Develops a high performing team that works well together and is empowered to make decisions; cultivates a culture of openness and fairness continuously striving towards improved and timely communications and team performance to fulfill goals and objectives. Ensures personal and departmental members’ ability to be successful in interfacing with all internal departments (i.e., Event Sales & Services, Talent Buying, Production, Ticketing, Food & Beverage, Security, and Housekeeping) to distribute and disseminate information integral to the successful implementation of events, as well as to fine tune, define and upgrade the types of services and products we offer to be successfully competitive. 18. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. 19. Issues invoices, monitors receivables and is responsible for collections. Administers and/or supervises settlements as required. 20. Creates and maintains a robust internship program and grass roots street team with local colleges and universities to benefit from an in-house marketing program, a focus group for programming, and even new talent acquisition. 21. Maintains knowledge of deal structures and supports their fulfillment at the time of settlement. Administers & assists others with settlement as assigned. 22. Strives for excellence in maintenance of accurate and up-to-date records of all events, expenses, revenues, and payments to external vendors and industry organizations. 23. Serves as a liaison between venue, clients, and outside vendors to maintain the Cannery’s growing reputation of having the most knowledgeable and customer-friendly event staff. Communicates and coordinates production requirements accordingly. 24. Works diligently to provide information that is timely, accurate, and complete for all settlements. 25. Acts as “Manager on Duty” as required. 26. Supports co-workers. We always have each other’s back. 27. Performs specific tasks as assigned by General Manager. The above-listed duties are not all inclusive. This position is expected to perform other work-related duties as assigned even though they may not be considered primary duties. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Experience Required Bachelor’s degree from four-year College or University (preferred); two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
