Job Description Summary
Working within the Financial Wellbeing Lab you can play a pivotal role in the next stage of our transformation journey. The Lab’s purpose is to create a leading experience to help our customers before, during and after financial difficulty. You can ensure we help them become more financially resilient and improve their overall financial wellbeing.We aim to achieve this purpose through improving colleague tools, creating tools to allow customers to better manage their day-to-day finances, and by simplifying the Customer Financial Assistance (CFA) systems through an increased focus on Automation, DevOps, Cloud technologies and Rationalisation. Our aim is to create a forward-thinking agile culture that supports the Customer Financial Assistance in delivering high quality, efficient and positive impact outcomes for our customers.
The Software Engineer aims to deliver the highest quality customer driven software whilst continually challenging, motivating, mentoring and supporting their engineering teams. They will work in cross-disciplinary teams delivering exciting customer driven solutions and high quality software and showcase excellent interpersonal and communication skill whilst efficiently working across the project life cycle to ensure software operates as intended. This is a leadership level role and will blend both deep domain and technical expertise within a feature team and great passion for coaching and developing people in a “player-coach” model.
You'll join a dynamic team based in London who are passionate about new ways of working and new ideas, working with Multi-disciplinary feature teams delivering exciting customer driven solutions and high quality software.

Financial Wellbeing – Tools & Application Lab
Location: London based, hybrid working with 2 days per week in the office.
Salary & Benefits: £71,577 to £79,530 base salary based on experience and grade, plus annual personal bonus, 15% employer pension contribution (when you put in 6%), private medical insurance, 30 days holiday plus bank holidays.

About the role:

You’ll aim to deliver the highest quality customer driven software whilst continually challenging, motivating, mentoring and supporting their engineering teams. What’s expected from you:
- Lead in the design and development of config changes on the FICO Debt Manager 9 platform on behalf of the Customer Treatment Lab
- Drive the success of the Engineering Config Chapter, across the Platform, by sharing your knowledge and experiences and grow the Chapter’s capability through quality upskilling
- Recognize the importance of quality and hence create and implement approaches, guidelines and principles defined by themselves and their Engineering and Chapter Lead peers
- Build partnerships and work collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives, promoting a culture of collaboration across boundaries, where people can express themselves honestly
- Make sense of sophisticated, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to successfully tackle problems
Knowledge & Experience:
- Business Rules – This development brings to life the various functional aspects of our systems to drive interaction between our colleagues and customers. It also supports our colleagues in servicing customer needs. An advanced knowledge on how our strategic platform is configured is needed.
- Back end development – ETL (Pervasive/Kettle) plays a key part in building more sustainable and efficient functionality for our colleagues. Understanding how to design and develop ETL solutions is important.
- Strong SQL skills are needed to query and analyse data on the database, ensuring our solutions meet the quality and outcome required.
- Understanding of the CFA business & purpose is important.
