Cambridgeshire County Council
Full Time March, England 41045 - 44062 GBP ANNUAL Today
Job description

About the role

Due to the previous post holder successfully securing a progression post within the team, the Fenland Learning Disability Partnership (LDP) Team have an exciting opportunity for a permanent full time Senior Social Worker.

This is a full time role based at Hereward Hall in March however part time working may be considered.

The LDP are currently working to a hybrid model, with part-remote and flexible options available in line with our service needs.

The Cambridgeshire Learning Disability Partnership (LDP) brings together specialist health and social care services for people with a learning disability. The LDP is responsible for commissioning and providing these services on behalf of Cambridgeshire and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) and Cambridgeshire County Council.

If you would like to expand your knowledge and skills by gaining experience of working with adults with learning disabilities please contact Lucy Gooding, Team Manager on 01354 750084 or by email [email protected] to discuss further.

This is a rolling campaign, and we will review applications daily so please don't wait for the closing date to apply, we want to speak to you now!

We know that your time is precious, so our interviews are generally held virtually, by Microsoft Teams, to provide the most flexible recruitment process. We may include a virtual assessment as part of this, but we’ll give you all of the relevant information ahead of time.

Appointment to this post will be subject to the outcome of an Enhanced Disclosure obtained through the Disclosure and Barring Service. The Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and vulnerable adults and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.

What will you be doing?

You will be working creatively with cases of complexity alongside completing assessments and reviews under the Care Act. This will include Safeguarding and Court of Protection Deprivation of Liberty applications.

Your leadership role will include supervising the practice and performance of social workers and adult support co-ordinators in the team. Using your experience, you’ll be a creative coach in supervision, enable practice improvements and providing valuable feedback through staff appraisal.

As you’ll be working with both, adults in need of care and support services, along with their informal carers, it will be crucial that you work in partnership with them to establish their needs and ensure that they are met.

This isn’t just about delivering care; it’s about providing service users with choice and control of their lives and empowering independence.

There will be an opportunity to broaden your own skills and knowledge by working within a Multi Disciplinary Team including social care, nursing, psychology, psychiatry and therapies.

Cambridgeshire offers extensive learning and development opportunities for your ongoing career and supports progression throughout the service.

One of our Senior Social Workers had this to say about their experience within the LDP:

‘Having the opportunity to work alongside both social care and health colleagues has given me increased knowledge and experience, which I have been able to use in my daily work. The team are really supportive and have daily catch-up calls and regular meetings to give the team the opportunity to talk through situations and share their thoughts and feelings. I had the opportunity to progress within the LDP from a Social Worker to a Senior Social Worker, which has allowed me to expand my skills and knowledge, by being able to continue to work with Service Users but also input into the development of the team and the wider LDP.’

About you

We're looking for a confident and dynamic individual with a Social Work qualification who is at least 2 years post completion of the ASYE programme.

You will be able to work autonomously as well as have the ability to support other team members while working with health and social care colleagues as part of a multi-disciplinary service.
