Job description
We are seeking to recruit an experienced, skilled and motivated Senior Emergency Nurse to join our fast paced, and friendly Emergency Department. The role involves being Team Leader for a variety of nursing grades and roles, coordinating a busy Emergency Department, providing direct nursing care in all areas of the Emergency Department from triage through to majors and resuscitation. The role also involves supporting HR processes, off duty, quality improvement projects and clinical governance, along side supporting and educating staff of all grades.
Please note: this role may require assessment centre or psychometric tests.
Clinical care - triage and assessment, medicines management, basic life support, nurse trauma care, prioritisation of workload and coordination of the Emergency Department.
Supporting the Operational and HR teams with management of sickness, statutory and mandatory training records and appraisals of team members; ensuring staff wellbeing is a priority.
Supporting the management of the Emergency Department's nursing roster.
Have basic and up to date IT skills.
Developing and leading on key quality improvement initiatives and supporting nursing staff to be actively involved in quality improvement.
Proactive involvement in the management of complains, PALS and investigations to ensure we uphold safe and high quality care.
Supporting staff through their probationary periods when new in role, preceptorship and maintaining evidence based practice throughout the Emergency Department

- To coordinate the nursing care of all patients attending the Emergency Department.
- To provide clinical leadership to the nursing team within the Emergency Department to ensure high standards of patient care are maintained.
- To take charge of the Emergency Department and manage all resources effectively.
- To ensure quality standards and Emergency Department targets are adhered to and met.
- To manage and lead a specific team of nursing staff, including Human resources, Staff appraisals / personnel issues and disciplinary procedures.
- To support the Emergency Department OSM, Modern Matron, Emergency Department Unit Manager and clinical lead.
