Why this role is important for CPI’s work
CPI is looking to recruit a Senior Scientist and two Scientists in the field of data science to support upcoming projects within the biopharmaceuticals business unit based in Darlington.
You will work in a multi-disciplinary environment, championing and leading the use of Data Science techniques including Modelling, Design of Experiment, Multivariate Analysis, Machine Learning, and Artificial Intelligence to aid innovation in Biotherapeutics.
In both the Scientist and the Senior Scientist roles, you will be responsible for providing technical expertise and input in order to contribute to the delivery and realisation of collaborative research and commercial projects, helping our clients and partners develop new products, processes and manufacturing solutions.
As the Senior Scientist, you will act as technical lead in small and medium scale projects, and projects of some complexity.
As a Scientist, you would support the small and medium scale projects.
Within both roles, you will be seen as a specialist in your field and be expected to offer innovative solutions at business unit level, contributing to development and improvement activities.

The person we are seeking
We are looking for someone who will possess technical expertise and knowledge of principles of data science, including:
Modelling, Design of Experiment, Multivariate Analysis, Machine Learning, and/or Artificial Intelligence and related technologies.
For the senior role, you will exhibit professional mastery in this field.
You must also have experience with scripting in one or more of these languages: Matlab, R/RStudio, Python, Julia etc. Eperience with automated data acquisition, data preprocessing and database management would be highly beneficial.
Understanding of bioprocess development and/or biopharmaceuticals would be an asset.
It is essential you are educated to Degree level (or equivalent) in a Computer Science/Biological Science/Mathematics discipline plus significant industrial experience.
Above all, we are seeking a person with a keen interest in science and technology, who enjoys thinking outside the box and finding innovative solutions to complex technical and scientific problems.

Salary: £30,000.00-£42,000.00 per year
