Robotics Program Lead

The Robotics Program Lead is a member of the Process Automation & Robotics team focused on Global Supply Chain automation systems. The role is accountable for defining, developing, assessing, approving, and delivering complex and innovative solutions to enhance manufacturing capability across GSK by utilising and deploying robotic systems, including AGV’s and AMR’s. A key function of this role is to continually assess and adapt the Robotics strategy to reflect the latest technologies where this brings significant business benefit. Stakeholder management and good communications skills are essential. This person will act as a Subject Matter Expert for the technology and associated processes related to Robotics and Automation Systems, will ensure that good practices are embedded across GSK manufacturing sites. make recommendations for improvement / oversight and set the direction of the GSK Robotics strategy.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Set and drive the Robotics strategy
  • Key point of contact for senior stakeholders
  • Act as the technical authority, develop or contribute to robotics training, processes and standards for manufacturing automation systems across GSK
  • Analyse and challenge robotics solutions for manufacturing automation systems deployed across GSK ensuring alignment to industry standards and best practices
  • Work with key vendors to ensure the latest innovative solutions are assessed and identify their suitability and benefit to GSK’s manufacturing capability.
  • Work with the key stakeholders, sites and projects to identify areas of opportunity for the use of robotics.
  • Work with sites and project groups to define, implement and test robotics systems.
  • Assess and subsequently generate feasibility reports associated with the implementation of robotic solutions. These may include but not limited to the following areas: Parenteral manufacturing, filling and packaging, logistics and QC Labs
  • Lead projects and programmes to develop and deploy standard solutions for all relevant areas of robotic technology deployment.
  • Design robotic systems, such as automatic vehicle control, autonomous vehicles, advanced displays, advanced sensing, robotic platforms, computer vision, or telematics systems.
  • Generate solutions in areas of opportunity to reduce overheads, increase throughput, decrease failure rate, and minimise changeovers.

Basic Qualifications:

We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals:

  • Bachelor's Degree in science, engineering, robotics, mechatronics, computing or similar
  • Strong experience in manufacturing automation experience
  • Strong experience specialising in robotics technical roles
  • Must have proven delivery of step change innovative robotic solutions.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to influence key stakeholders and interface with operational personnel, capital projects team and senior management within the organization
  • Communication and influencing senior stakeholders
  • Creating business cases and feasibility studies detailing business benefits
