Job description
To provide high level of specialist, clinical, managerial and nursing input for patients with all respiratory diseases. The post includes management responsibility of the nurse specialist team and outpatients health care assistant team.
Also included is management responsibility for, the home nebuliser loan service, thoracoscopy and pleural procedures clinics. A telephone advice line is also part of the service, and involves liaison with GPs and helping patients to remain at home.
- To work as an autonomous practitioner and be responsible for the day to day caseload of patients with relevant respiratory conditions
- To assess referred patients providing an initial and ongoing respiratory management plan.
- To be an expert resource in respiratory care to all health care professionals (HCP), people with respiratory and their carers
- To work in collaboration with all members of the multidisciplinary healthcare team to promote excellent standards of care to people with respiratory disease in line with evidence based practice
- To provide education to people with respiratory disease and or their carers and to professional who care for people with respiratory conditions
- To practice clinically in a way that supports and facilitates patient self-management
- To manage outpatient respiratory nursing service; this includes respiratory nurses (band 6) and the nursing team providing care for the patients in the outpatient setting. This team includes registered and unregistered nursing staff
- Management of the respiratory outpatients budget both for staffing and medical and non-medical costs reporting to the business manager and senior nurse for medicine
