North TV News Operations is a team of approximately 60 people who provide a range of technical and craft services to BBC News, BBC England and Digital productions, based at MediaCityUK.
We work as a creative, multiskilled team across an exciting and wide range of output including BBC Breakfast, BBC North West Tonight and BBC News. The team provides the gallery and studio team for BBC Breakfast every day of the year as well as regularly working across the country on location and outside broadcasts. We also output four regional programmes for North West Tonight every weekday, as well as weekend output. Work is varied, lively and great fun.
Main ResponsibilitiesYou will work closely with a colleague to schedule and administer the operations team, act as fleet management contact for operational vehicles, including booking of services, repairs, and maintaining relevant paperwork (driver logs/defect reports) and assist the operational management team with administration tasks and bookings. You will raise payments and purchase orders for freelance/casual staff and operational kit and work closely with Production Management teams in other areas of the business as required, defining operational staffing requirements. Other elements of the role include providing input into, and scheduling the operational training plan, acting as training booker for the team, running training reports when required and acting as ITC for the operations team.
Are you the right candidate?The successful candidate will have experience of building rotas and using scheduling systems, making payments and purchase orders and have a good knowledge of conditions of service/working time directive. You will have strong IT skills and will be comfortable using the WorkPlace scheduling system. You’ll have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to manage relationships at all levels, in addition to being flexible and highly organised with the ability to prioritise effectively and multi-task with good attention to detail. Experience of or an interest in fleet management is also important.
