Post Title: Senior Research Fellow in Paramedic Science

FTE: 0.4 FTE (working 14.8 hours per week)
Duration of Contract: Fixed Term
Salary: UH8 £43,155 pa pro rata with potential to progress to £54,421pa pro rata by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience
Annual Leave: 35 days pa pro rata plus standard public holidays and an additional 4 days including the closure of our office between Christmas and New Year
Location: College Lane Campus, University of Hertfordshire
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced researcher to join a vibrant team that includes clinical academics working on health services research applied to clinical practice in paramedicine. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing research team with an established track record in paramedic research.
You will be based within School of Health and Social Work, which is a vibrant, multidisciplinary school, with over 30 researchers from diverse backgrounds including paramedic and other allied health professions, nursing, midwifery, and social work.
This post would be ideal for someone with research experience in a out of hospital or in hospital setting keen to develop a range of research skills in qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods. Research across a range of projects brings together senior researchers from in different fields of allied health professions and nursing with expertise in clinical trials, health services research, realist evaluation, involvement/engagement in research, qualitative, quantitative and mixed methods research. The appointee would have the opportunity to work with a range of senior academics and researchers who are experts in their field.
Main duties and responsibilities
You will be required to undertake research within the scope of the project, establishing a programme of research activity whilst working collaboratively with colleagues and representing the research project at project meetings. You will seek external funding and establish new collaborative partnerships whilst disseminating the outcomes of the project in publications and conferences. You will lead research workstreams and analysis whilst having the opportunity to undertake your own research taking an active role in the University. You will supervise under-grad and post-grad student projects related to the research field, create opportunities to maximise the wider economic and social impact of research activities and take an active part in the Academic School. Other duties may be required by the Dean or Associate Dean.
Skills and experience required
You will require substantial proven experience working in a research environment, as well as leading research projects and providing leadership to junior staff. You will require research experience in the subject area and submit successful funding applications. A record of scholarly work such as published work is essential, along with presenting research findings to conferences. You will have the required knowledge of research methodology appropriate for the subject area. Knowledge of appropriate databases for the discipline and the ability to conduct literature searches is crucial to this role. Moreover, we will expect you to have good oral and written communication skills in English as well as interpersonal and presentation skills.
Qualifications required
You will be required to hold a minimum of an Undergraduate Honours degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline. A PhD qualification or equivalent will be essential to the role.
