Scotland's Railway is part of this large family and it covers a large geographical area from the Borders to Thurso at the far tip of the North East of Scotland, accounting for almost 20 per cent of the UK rail network. We provide rapid access along busy commuter routes to our seven cities, servicing the varied needs of our business and leisure commuter services, including cross border services and rural services. We have up to 50 freight services operating every day and we are steadily building capacity for this to grow. Brief Description
To work as an integral member of the General Consul and Governance team (Assurance) which sits within the Finance Department. In addition to leading and delivering regional assurance activities, we are looking for someone to help develop assurance and related improvement understanding and awareness within the region, and collaborate with our colleagues through Scotlands Railways to support them and improve their overall business performance.
About the role (External)
Here are some of the duties your role will include: -
1. Manage the implementation of the Network Rail governance framework and management system throughout the business unit, maintain continued adherence through active engagement and provide feedback to continually improve it;
2. Implement a communication methodology so that governance briefings are carried out in accordance with procedures and standards;
3. Deliver the business group audit plan, including integration and support of the Network Rail business audit interventions, corporate Safety Functional Audit and corporate Internal Audit activity to maintain the three lines of defence required to protect business reputation and customer confidence;
4. Exercise functional quality responsibility for the Region, Service or Network teams monitoring the quality of the work performed by staff, consultants and contractors employed on the projects by systematic audit;
5. Manage quality performance indicators and provide appropriate reports on business quality performance;
6. Manage relationships with the group governance and assurance forums influencing decision making across Network Rail to meet the strategic objectives of the business are met;
7. Manage and maintain the development of the desired quality culture throughout the business unit to meet legal compliance and adoption of functional best practise through good governance, providing stakeholder confidence through effective assurance to achieve efficiencies internally and through the supply chain.
8. Develop and implement plans to address significant non-compliance with standards, legislation, safety case or notices served by statutory authorities.
What you will bring to the role: -
- Proven track record of operating in a complex business environment across multi-disciplinary areas.
- Member of the Chartered Quality Institute, Certified IRCA Lead Auditor or relevant professional body recognition
- A comprehensive knowledge of Quality management tools and techniques.
- Demonstrates strong business/commercial approach and understanding of business needs.
- Proven experience of working in partnership with senior business leaders in order to improve quality management.
- Ability to establish professional credibility quickly.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to negotiate and influence effectively with all levels of an organisation.
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills

Salary: £44,690 - £50,276
