Senior Project Manager / Quantity Surveyor
Location: London, Clerkenwell
Type: Full time, Permanent
Hours: Mon- Fri 9 am to 5.30pm
We are looking for Senior Project Managers to join our London Design Management group. You should be able to demonstrate relevant experience working with contracts and appointments, design and commercial management and have excellent communication skills. The role will involve close liaison with our Project Directors and Principals and multi-disciplinary design teams to deliver high profile projects. Taking a pivotal role in project delivery from day one, you will be in a key position to manage, monitor and drive the performance of the projects in the London studio.
Our current and future workload in Parliamentary and Major Healthcare projects highlights that experience of design management in large scale infrastructure projects will be of significant benefit.
Overview of responsibility:
- Plan design delivery
- Monitor ongoing design related activities
- Work within the commercial and design management teams on cost and contract
- Input into project risk registers
- Experience creating detailed design programmes
- Track design activities against programme, milestones etc. including, project changes, BDP supply chain, CDM, Planning, BREEAM, H&S, Risk, Assurance
- To communicate challenges experienced in the design process with the Clients Project Management team, and agree resolution
- Driving the delivery of projects from inception to completion with the work plans you have created with BDP team leaders
- Reporting to BDP directors on progress and performance.
- To keep our clients and project design team informed of changes to the scopes of work as they arise, and coordinate / input into appropriate contractual notifications
- Assist the change team in reviewing changes, defining project impact, pricing changes based on current design, identifying owners, liaising with client and the Client Project Management team
- Input into the monthly project reporting cycle and liaising with the client on monthly changes to cost, fee, resources and scope
- Identify any resource gaps that need to be addressed to maintain programme and progress in line with project requirements.
- Determine resource requirements in conjunction with the Project Director and Design Leads to accomplish programme deadlines
- To provide mentoring to less experienced members of the design management team in all aspects of project management
About you
- Preferred experience in Design, Construction, or Engineering environment
- Ideally a Diploma / Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Project Management or related discipline
- Good understanding of operation and administration of contracts e.g NEC3 / CIC / JTC
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Organised and enthusiastic, with excellent time management skills.
- Team player and willingness to learn.
- Ability to be flexible and willingness to adapt to the changing needs of the project and team
- Mathematical and commercial literacy is a must
- Ability to think laterally and strategically
- Proficient in Microsoft Office packages specifically Microsoft Excel
- Experience of using Asta Powerproject would be beneficial
- Highly motivated with the ability to work on own initiative, and under pressure.
- Exhibit a proactive, understanding and flexible approach to dealing with issues.
- Have a friendly, professional manner and confidence in working with people at all levels inside and outside of the business.
- To act in a professional and confidential manner when dealing with all BDP activities both internally and / or externally.
- A good team player, capable of working in a fast-paced environment whilst maintaining accuracy and quality.
