Aston Reach is a consulting company that works with clients to facilitate and assure change.

This contract role will be the lead project manager on a digital transformation project. It’s a 6 month contract with the possibility to extend. With the build c 80% complete, the emphasis shifts to the implementation phase, and therefore the ideal candidate should have experience in Go Live governance, Implementation planning, Warranty/early life support, handover into BAU, along with strong leadership, project governance and resource management. The ideal candidate should demonstrate leadership skills and a keen focus on delivery. Experience with Scrum, Dev Ops, Business and IT Operational development and readiness (throughout the lifecycle), Smartsheet and supplier management will all help play a consultative role in advising and guiding the client into a new (more agile) digital operating model.

The role can be remote, the project team are dispersed throughout the UK. Regular visits to the client’s office in the Midlands (Derby) are required and travel expenses are recoverable. The day rate on offer is £500 to £550 depending on experience, operating outside of IR35.

The role will entail:

  • Liaison with the executive sponsor and CTO to report on project delivery, issues and risks faced and mitigating actions taken or escalations as appropriate.
  • Project governance, including managing the joint delivery plan (with the key supplier), weekly reporting, preparing and presenting regular project boards (and associated reporting) and RAID maintenance. Some PMO support is available to support the project governance.
  • Regular meetings with the key supplier to define and agree outcomes and approach with the remaining delivery.
  • Coaching and supporting the team and key stakeholders to ensure the best approach is taken to achieve successful delivery.

Other skills we are looking for:

  • Excellent communication skills with experience of engaging across all levels of the business, both Business and IT sides.
  • Great collaboration skills.
  • Strong leadership skills, taking ownership of the project and a tenacity to drive it to successful delivery.
  • Experience with operating within Waterfall, Iterative and Scrum methodologies.
  • Appropriate experience with the tools of the trade, which could be Jira, MS Project, Smartsheet, Confluence and the MS Office suite.
