Senior Production Manager - 12 Month FTC

Drawing together world-class talent across News UK, TalkTV broadcasts from state-of-the-art studios at The News Building in London Bridge and available live or on-demand, on linear and connected TV and on any personal device. TalkTV broadcasts 24/7 on Sky Channel 526, Virgin Media Channel 627, Freeview Channel 237 and Freesat Channel 217, as well as via connected TV services, smart devices, the TalkTV app and at talk.tv.

Your Role: You will lead a team of production coordinators, production secretaries & production runners working across both studio & office production. You will be responsible for a large production budget and the production management team.

Day to day you will:

  • Create and manage budgets alongside the Finance team for all programming, tracking all production spends

  • Managing invoices & spends for all suppliers including crew, set build, studio & office costs

  • Building relationships and work closely with editorial teams to oversee production of all daily programming live & pre-recorded

  • Oversee the production and edit schedules, updating information on a regular basis on staffing, studio, edits, gfx requests, holidays etc

  • Lead and mentor members of the production team, focusing on their personal and technical development

  • Managing the production team daily to ensure they have are handling a suitable workload and providing support where needed

  • Work closely with the staff editors & edit teams to troubleshoot any technical issues and ensure smooth operations across the board

  • Ensuring freelancers are contracted & onboarded onto finance systems & set up as suppliers

  • Ensure clear lines of communication with the Production team

  • Understand key legal requirements, including rights relating to licensing of music, archive and stills, release forms, contracts and risk assessments

  • Maintain and develop a production pool of talent

  • Work closely with the internal Health and Safety team to ensure studio and location requirements are met

  • Offer support and guidance about operational & production processes from internal teams

  • Working flexible hours in line with the current programming schedule

What we’re looking for from you:

  • Extensive experience with all aspects of programme production, preferably live, fast turnaround studio shows, location, single / multi-camera, post production, including editing, graphics, shooting and crews.

  • You will be solution focussed, adaptable and confident in managing difficult and challenging situations in a fast-moving environment.

  • Experience and confidence in leading and motivating a team

  • Understand operational, financial and legal constraints
