Overview of job

This role provides an amazing opportunity to join Global’s growing Product team, where our mission is to transform technology at the heart of the best media and entertainment on the planet.

You will define the product vision and strategy for commercial shared service products, partnering across the company to deliver game changing outcomes. Leading cross-functional teams to deliver the roadmap, being at the heart of connecting the technical and business world of your product(s), a deep level of technical curiosity is key.

Fostering a learn-fast mentality with a bias to action you will own problems, not just technology, while relentlessly measuring and communicating the value created to all stakeholders, all of the time.

Measures of success –

In the first few months, you would have:

  • Understood our audio and outdoor businesses end-to-end and developed a view of how your product fits in and drives growth.

  • Developed a deep understanding of the shared service capabilities, features, OKRs and KPIs, technology and how they impact the business.

  • Understood the long-term strategic plans, current roadmap and how your day-to-day work contributes to this.

  • Embedded within your squad and started to build strong working relationships with the other disciplines that you collaborate with.

  • Taken ownership for facilitating the development cycle and all associated ceremonies (e.g., planning, refinement, demo, retro).

Responsibilities of the role

  • Develop a deep understanding of your customers and the market, employing the right discovery techniques to identify the biggest opportunities and problems to solve.

  • Ability to quickly understand and document business processes, finding bottle necks and areas for optimisation .

  • Implement a product vision and strategy which aligns to the business strategy.

  • Embed an outcome focussed mindset in the squad.

  • Work closely with your team to create and deliver innovative solutions that are valuable, viable usable and feasible.

  • Define data-based goals and success metrics, and regularly monitor and report on product performance and that of new features.

  • Gain a deep understanding of the technology we use to build our products, assisting with issue resolution and triage.

  • Work as part of a wider product community, driving best practices and continuous improvement in all areas.

  • Be able to prioritise effectively, making decisions based on data.

  • Effectively explain new requirements to the development team using user stories, personas, and acceptance criteria. Working together to break down a complex piece of work into smaller chunks delivering value faster.

  • Line manage up to two Product Owners.

  • Support with hiring, onboarding and retaining diverse and talented Product Owners.

  • Coach and mentor junior Product Owners enabling them to reach their potential and career goals.

  • Be a voice in the wider product community, driving best practices and continuous improvement for Product@Global.

What will you need

The ideal candidate will be proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative solutions, capable of the following:

  • Experience of product management best practice, agile methodologies and ways of working.

  • Technically competent to understand and influence the solution and approach.

  • Use a data driven approach, be comfortable analysing data to help make decisions and inform direction.

  • Experience of working in a complex change environment which encompasses multiple products and development teams.

  • A natural collaborator, with a strong sense of humility, who enjoys working with a wide variety of teams and people.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills whether in a small group or large-scale presentations.

  • Experience using Software Development software (i.e. Jira, Confluence).

  • A curious and proactive mindset.

  • Driven to win, always thinking big, while keeping it simple and owning it.
