Senior Product Owner
We are looking for an experienced Senior Product Owner to join our Transformation Team at Ageas. Reporting to the Product Manager the successful candidate will be accountable for a major product category or at least one major area of the business. Delivering change across technical products within an agile framework, to support and deliver both smaller ongoing deliverables and larger business outcomes. The successful candidate will be responsible for understanding both the business strategy and technology agenda to build a prioritised plan for delivery of the required change and subsequent value realisation.
Senior Product Owner owns, prioritises, and maintains the product backlog for one or more products. Providing direction to the delivery teams and other Product Owners to ensure they are delivering items that will deliver the most significant business value and in line with the overall Product strategy.
There will be an expectation to visit the office on an ad hoc basis.
Main Responsibilities as a Senior Product Owner:
  • Lead on at least one major product category or major business area.
  • Set the Product vision and strategy for their products, in line with planned business outcome
  • Create a product roadmap with a mid to long term view of how they’ll deliver business outcomes,
  • Deliver change within their own delivery team but also lead co-ordinating change across multiple teams to ensure our deliveries are joined up
  • Communicate to stakeholders and to delivery teams what needs to be built, why and for whom.
  • Accountable for delivering both business driven change and the ‘lights on’ change (incidents, maintenance, technical debt) to maintain the product.
  • Tailor approach to co-ordinate complex change across internal development teams, offshore teams, and 3rd parties
  • Lead on ensuring we work in line with Agile best practice
  • Work collaboratively with the Product Manager, other Product Owners and stakeholders to refine the backlogs and identify cross journey dependencies to ensure that end-to-end solutions are delivered
Skills and experience you need as a Senior Product Owner:
  • Extensive experience working as a Product Owner or equivalent role in a delivery environment
  • Assertive, consistently takes the initiative, lead matrix teams, drive teams along the lines of high value, velocity and quality
  • Places the customer at the heart of everything you do, and works effectively with customer/user experience design teams to deliver the best possible experience
  • Effective at getting alignment across matrix, empowering individuals across teams to reach the best outcomes, within both agile delivery and interfacing with traditional waterfall projects
  • Ability to communicate complex business and technology messages both at Exec level and at delivery team level.
  • Ability to deliver our most complex and high-profile change across multiple workstreams within a high pressure and changing environment
  • Numerate and analytical nature, able to adapt plans to customer needs, business outcomes and technology to recognise high value early
  • Use critical thinking and problem solving to make sound prioritisation decisions across multiple teams
  • Resilient, able to learn from setbacks, adapt their approach, and support others across delivery teams
  • Full understanding the domain and product or is able to quickly understand this within the context of Ageas.
  • Expert knowledge of Agile and the main Agile frameworks, and is a standard bearer for continual improvement in our ways of working across teams
  • Ability to lead both inhouse and outsourced teams and gravitas to influence key business stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving skills, identifying critical issues and pushing creative thinking beyond the boundaries of existing practices.
