The goal is to grow the capabilities of the Practice to develop excellent AI solutions for us and for our clients
About the role
As a Senior Principal Applied Scientist/Practice Competence Leader (SP/PCL), your main goal is to develop the capabilities of experts in the Practice. This includes both hard and soft skills, such as software engineering practices, data science, presentations, writing, and mentorship. You'll achieve this by integrating best practices, hiring top talent, and coaching Principal Data Scientists.
Your ultimate target is flawless project delivery and public leadership through state-of-the-art practices developed by the team. You'll work closely with the Head of Practice and Head of AI to stay up-to-date with current demand and technology.
Areas of responsibility
- Setting up strategic technical direction and research for new tech opportunities for the Practice
- Best practices development and change management in the Practice
- Interviewing and hiring data scientists, principal data scientists for the Practice
- Coaching, mentoring, sponsorship, and career development of principal data scientists in the Practice
- Capabilities management in the Practice, developing domain expertise in the company
- Assisting educational and career development plans creation for data scientists in the Practice
- Assisting demand generation (i.e. content development) and pre-sales activities (i.e. proposal presentation)
Skills
- Hands-on implementation of AI/ML solutions
- AI/ML systems design and architectures development
- MLOps and full machine learning solutions lifecycle
- Teaching, mentoring, and coaching
- Documentation development and knowledge organization
- Effective written and oral communication
Knowledge
- Software engineering best practices
- Machine learning best practices
- Systems design best practices (cloud, especially AWS will be a plus)
- Project management fundamentals
- Domain knowledge for the typical projects in the practice (Retail, Logistics - nice to have)
- Product management fundamentals (nice to have)
- Business hypothesis testing (nice to have)
Experience
- MSc or more advanced degree in Engineering, Mathematics, and other STEM fields
- 7+ years building and delivering AI/ML solutions
- 3+ years managing (project management, people management) AI/ML technical teams
- Experience in AI departments of top boutique consulting firms (BCG Gamma, McKinsey QuantumBlack, etc)
- contribution to the tech community - writing, public speeches, open-source projects (nice to have)
- work in the startup environment, business hypothesis testing, product-market fit search (nice to have)
- Experience in domains of the typical projects in the practice (Retail, Logistics - nice to have)
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: £62.00 per hour
