Purpose of the Role
A fantastic opportunity to work on the publicity campaigns for Adult and Children’s reference and non-fiction books, working across well-known brands including National Trust, Collins, A-Z, Times Books, i-SPY and National Geographic Kids. You will form a key role in helping to secure PR coverage for a diverse range of books.
Bringing your publicity experience and good knowledge of the commercial non-fiction market to the Collins marketing & publicity team, you will work closely with marketing colleagues, to devise and implement innovative, integrated and targeted publicity campaigns with the aim of raising awareness and driving sales of key new publishing, brands and authors.
Key Tasks and Accountabilities
Deliver creative and stand-out publicity campaigns across both traditional and new media channels, on brief and within budget
Generate and foster review and feature coverage across relevant media, including newspapers, magazines, TV, radio, online and social media
Plan and execute author tours / visits to raise author profile and generate sales
Work closely with the Editorial, Marketing and Sales teams to ensure publicity opportunities are fully maximised and communicated across the division
Maintain, develop and grow relationships with key journalists, producers and new media contacts across all channels
Generate trade press releases, publicity catalogues and announce new title acquisitions
Compile and circulate internal PR up-dates
Put together award submissions for relevant titles and publicity campaigns
Knowledge and Experience
Publicity background, preferably in non-fiction
Excellent author care experience
Proven track record in generating publicity coverage across a variety of authors and campaigns
Experience of organising and managing author tours and events
Experience of digital and traditional communications
Skills
Capable of creative and innovative publicity campaigns
The ability to juggle a heavy workload under pressure
Ability to work evenings and weekends as required
A team player with excellent communication and organisational skills
Motivated self-starter with a ‘can-do’ attitude
Extensive and proven network of media, literary and bookseller contacts
