Job description

Save the Children UK has an exciting opportunity for an influential and go-getting individual to join us as a Senior Partnership Development Manager to drive forward our ambition of securing sector-leading, multi-dimensional partnerships for children.

About Us

Save the Children UK believes every child deserves a future. In the UK and around the world, we work every day to give children a healthy start in life, the opportunity to learn and protection from harm. When crisis strikes, and children are most vulnerable, we are always among the first to respond and the last to leave. We ensure children's unique needs are met and their voices are heard. We deliver lasting results for millions of children, including those hardest to reach.

About you

As Senior Partnership Development Manager, you will be reporting directly to the Head of Partnership Development and joining a supportive and experienced team of 8 responsible for securing strategic, multi-year corporate partnerships that align with Save the Children's organisational objectives and our 2030 ambition. You will be part of making real change for children through partnerships with the private sector which address challenges children are facing.

This role sits in our Partnerships and Philanthropy team meaning that you will be working alongside colleagues who manage our award-winning corporate partnerships with companies like GSK, Unilever, and Lego.

The Senior Partnership Development Manager will also collaborate with colleagues across our organisation including Programmes and Advocacy teams to develop innovative propositions for business that respond to their areas of interest and maximise their skills and expertise.

The team is at an exciting phase of our journey with several excellent new partnerships secured in the past 18 months – we are building on our success to grow our amazing work for children. No one partnership is the same meaning it is virtually impossible to get bored in this role. With such breadth to our work and partnerships focusing on anything from health, education and child protection to climate, emergencies, brand building, and innovative finance - an appetite for learning is key.

In this role, you will:

  • Contribute to annual team target of over £4m.
  • Identify and secure impactful non-financial value that partners can bring to Save the Children.
  • Develop and implement ambitious sector strategies and produce tailored new partnership proposals that align to corporate challenges and opportunities, including through innovative finance.
  • Take personal responsibility and accountability for proactively generating leads, building networks, making contacts and bringing in new partnerships rooted in the impact we want to create for children.
  • Work alongside the newly created Corporate Advisory Board to follow new leads and explore opportunities.
  • Demonstrate emphasis on external facing activity, meeting and engaging prospective partners and seeking and attending external events as an opportunity to generate partnerships.
  • In parallel, cultivating strong internal relationships with colleagues in Programmes, Advocacy and Brand teams, that will support in the development of multi-dimensional partnerships.
  • Contribute to the success of the Partnership Development team by sharing knowledge, offering support, working together to problem solve and celebrate wins.

To be successful, it is important that you have:

  • Significant experience of securing ambitious, multi-dimensional corporate partnerships in the private or third sector
  • Demonstrable experience of the approach needed to win partnerships of £500k and above.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to include face-to-face and on the phone, effective proposal writing and correspondence to internal and external audiences.
  • The ability to think creatively and to develop tailor made proposals to meet corporate and Save the Children objectives.
  • The ability to build relationships and influence others internally and externally.
  • A team player approach and supportive attitude

We apply this to our workforce and we are committed to developing and supporting a diverse, equitable, and inclusive organisation where all employees have a sense of belonging and feel that they can be "Free to Be Me". We are not looking for just one type of person - we want to recruit people who can add fresh perspectives, innovative ideas or challenge that disrupts the risk of group think.

We are especially interested in people whose childhood experiences - of life on a low income, of migration, of being in a racialised community, of the care system, of being LGBT+ or in an LGBT+ family or living with (or with someone with) a disability - help us to see things we might otherwise miss. Whatever your story is we want to hear it because we know that different voices, ideas, perspectives and knowledge, working together will enable us to better the lives of children around the world. This is the reason why we are all here.
