Job description
Our Acoustics Team is based in both Warrington and London and is involved in some of the UK’s most complex and stimulating projects that are both diverse and technically demanding. We are a highly motivated and skilled team supporting some of the largest projects in the UK and are currently looking for a talented individual to join our team to support project delivery.
You will take on a key role within the team, providing project support for onsite monitoring, as well as office based tasks including 3D modelling and reporting.
A key aspect of the role will be to support the growing Building Acoustics capability within the Team, assisting the development and delivery of specialist building design projects in the residential, education, automotive and commercial sectors, along with supporting the Environmental section of the Team in the delivery of major infrastructure projects around the UK including projects for clients such as HS2 and National Highways.
You will assist the management team on a project basis to meet budgetary, quality and timeframe targets, with the potential to be fully trained on the Arcadis Project Management Systems.
Building Acoustics
- Undertake building acoustic assessments/reviews supported by the team management, subject to experience and grade;
- Undertake acoustic and other building acoustic monitoring surveys across the UK as directed by the team management;
- Data analysis, manipulation and interpretation to support in the preparation of technical reports and design advice;
- 3D Modelling using proprietary acoustic modelling software packages; etc. ODEON, INSUL;
- Full and detailed knowledge, relevant to grade, of appropriate building acoustics Specifications, Standards and Guidance appropriate for the UK (worldwide would be beneficial but not a requirement).
Environmental Noise
- Undertake acoustic assessments supported by the team management covering large scale EIA infrastructure schemes and smaller scale projects;
- Undertake acoustic and other environmental monitoring surveys across the UK as directed by the team management;
- Data analysis, manipulation and interpretation to support in the preparation of technical reports;
- 3D Modelling using proprietary acoustic modelling software. Ideally experience of either SoundPLAN, IMMI and NoiseMAP 5.0 would be beneficial, but knowledge of any proprietary noise mapping software essential; and,
- Full and detailed knowledge, relevant to grade, of appropriate Environmental acoustics Standards and Guidance appropriate for the UK (worldwide would be beneficial but not a requirement).
General Requirements
- Assisting with the preparation of acoustic proposals, bids and marketing material relevant to both Environmental and Building Acoustics as required;
- Being familiar with, and compliant with, relevant H & S regulations and promoting a culture of awareness within the team; and,
- Performing other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time by your manager or ARCADIS.
- A BSc degree (or similar) with a science, mathematics, environmental or acoustic focus/content;
- High level of proficiency in using the Microsoft Office suite, particularly Word and Excel;
- Good English language communication and written skills;
- Good Mathematics skills;
- Highly motivated and committed;
- Good team player with excellent time management skills;
- A full UK driving license
We are looking to fill the role with the right person and as such are willing to consider applications from keen individuals with a background working in the acoustics field. It is a key requirement that the individual has experience of Building Acoustics Project delivery and/or Environmental Acoustics Project Delivery.
Given the national spread of the business a certain level of flexibility in working hours and location is important. However, your base office would be either Warrington or London, sitting within our existing teams. By exception and subject to experience and capability other locations such as Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham and Bristol may be considered for a more senior post
