Job description
We are currently looking for a Senior Operations Manager to lead the operational Customer Due Diligence teams to ensure the bank operates appropriately under regulatory and industry rules and guidelines.
Responsible for the management of all aspects of the Customer Due Diligence landscape for the group, money laundering and Know Your Customer/Business prevention activity for the bank, to build a culture that understands regulatory requirements and Customer Due Diligence risks and implements robust processes to manage throughout the lifecycle of a customer.
This role will be key in assisting 1st line business units with enhancing Due Diligence controls, supporting investigations, and maintaining compliance with regulations.
This role can be based from Manchester or Reading. We offer a hybrid working model, meaning you can work a blend of home and office.
What your day will look like
- Senior Operational lead for CDD Ops Managers & CDD Investigators in Customer Due Diligence within a regulated financial institution, supporting all business lines within Aldermore Group
- Responsibility for the day-to-day management of banks end to end Customer Due Diligence processes that allow identification, management and accurate reporting of the Banks responsibility to Know our Customers.
- Ownership of comprehensive Customer Due Diligence policies and supporting guidelines that enhance the banks' ability to meet regulatory requirements and bank standards.
- Identify and support the resolution of policy and procedural breaches to ensure necessary enhancements are made to mitigate future risks, events and incidents
- Development of KPI’s, that ensure internal and external deadlines are met for Customer Due Diligence activities
- Make recommendations to individual business lines and bank management to improve controls to prevent business losses.
- Technical lead and CDD operational sponsor for projects and change initiatives that require insight on AML and Customer Due Diligence controls and regulations, including systems and rules development.
- Own the end-to-end management of CDD, OCDD & EDD.
- Provide intelligence and support on complex at risk cases, to ensure bank and customer risks are mitigated
- Deliver reporting and trend analysis that ensures the bank can deliver on the Bank’s governance and compliance requirements, demonstrating issue resolution and action plans to address control and process deficiencies
- Support the completion of ad hoc submissions and regular reporting to the Regulator of key CDD metrics to demonstrate adherence and performance by the bank of its responsibilities
- Representing the bank at industry and Due Diligence forums, adopting best practice through information sharing and networking with external experts, regulatory bodies and other financial institutions.
- Responsibility for the efficient and effective delivery of all activities through a team that has been trained, coached, and developed in all aspects of the Customers Due Diligence role as well as understanding the business lines they support.
- Have a knowledge of the bank’s lending and savings divisions processes and policies to ensure appropriate rigor is in place.
What we're looking for
- Previous experience of Savings, Asset Finance & Mortgages desired
- AML / CDD Management experience in a multi-product business desired
- Working knowledge of ABC and Market Abuse risks and the controls required to mitigate the risks
- First class people management skills including: motivation, performance management, coaching, engagement, negotiating and influencing
- A history of being self-motivated, well organised, problem solving to deadlines, with excellent attention to detail and strong decision making skills
- Hold or be working towards a recognised industry qualification in AML.
- Experience of process improvement, review & re-design along with ability to present effectively and with credibility
- Strong system knowledge, supported by a good understanding of the FCA handbook, ML regulations and JMLSG
