HMP Peterborough have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Operational Manager to join their dedicated Senior Leadership Team.
In this role, you will support prisoners access to a balanced regime that takes into account individual needs and their welfare in a secure environment. The successful applicant will be responsible for supervising and directing performance within their function in accordance with the Contract and wider requirements of the Authority.
As a member of the Senior Management Team, you’ll undertake additional duties as required that will contribute to the effective operation of the prison.
HMP/YOI Peterborough is the country’s only purpose-built prison for both male and female prisoners (kept separate at all times), including a 12-place mother and baby unit. We are committed to offering education and development programmes to provide residents with the skills required to enter employment on release, so reducing the chances of further offending. Providing creative outlets, such as workshop activities, helps to equip those in custody for when they are released. We use ‘Restorative Approaches’ to bring people in conflict into dialogue. Using a skilled and structured process, those who have been harmed have an opportunity to be heard and those that have caused the harm are held to account for what they have done. We have strong links with the community outside through a variety of partnerships, including our outreach activity Outside Links’ offering support and advice to both residents and their families.

Main Responsibilities- With guidance from the Director, Deputy Director, Company Policy and the requirements of the Authority, formulates Policy and Procedures for the effective operation of the Prison.
- Carry out the role of duty senior operational manager and undertake on call duties as required.
- As a member of the Senior Management Team, undertake additional duties as required that will contribute to the effective operation of the prison.
- Supervise and direct performance within your function in accordance with the Contract and wider requirements of the Authority
- Build strong teams which work collaboratively to deliver operational and contractual requirements, and build systems for ensuring accountability for delivery
- To develop managers and teams within your function, ensuring appropriate support and guidance is provided through effective individual and team meetings

The Ideal Candidate- Exceptional communication and leadership skills.
- A proven track record in prison operational experience (or similar).
- Understanding of business objectives, policies and procedures.
- A positive attitude, flexibility and effectiveness under pressure.
- Operational management experience
- High Level risk management skills
- A clear and demonstratable understanding of key people management tools and resources
- Contract knowledge and contract and client management skills.

Package Description£55,700 per annum (negotiable depending on experience) plus excellent benefits!
