Amey Consulting are currently looking to recruit a Senior OLE Design Engineer to join our Consulting North Rail team. With offices located in Manchester, Derby, York and Edinburgh, we welcome applications from Engineers across these regions.

As a Senior OLE Design Engineer at Amey Consulting you’ll be part of a growing team of over 500 employees contributing to the delivery of one of the biggest rail infrastructure projects to come to the North.
You will be a key part of the team and take responsibility for the effective and efficient delivery of projects including The Transpennine Route Upgrade (TRU). The TRU project is a multibillion-pound transformative programme that will improve connectivity between Manchester and Leeds and also bring better journeys to passengers.

The standard hours of work are 37.5 per week.Work-life balance and flexibility are key for our success. You will be responsible for:

• Undertake and oversee the production of OLE designs
• Carry out site surveys, identify risks and hazards and provide appropriate reporting
• Carry out design and assessment work for OLE elements of projects with minimal supervision
• Keep up to date with current NR, RSSB and British standards relevant to OLE design
• Prepare design and assessment reports and produce mark ups and sketches for CAD technicians
• Communicate effectively with other design/construction disciplines and sub-contractors

We want to hear from you if you have:

• A degree qualification in a relevant technical discipline (e.g. BEng/MEng or equivalent) to satisfy the current entry requirements for CEng or IEng
• Experience working within an OLE Design team
• Knowledge of interfaces between OLE engineering and other railway disciplines and how these are managed
• An understanding of the requirements of the UK Spec for IEng/CEng qualification.
• The ability to use the design software in the discipline
• Railway industry knowledge
• Ability to lead and mentor junior staff where required
