A vacancy has arisen at Fulham Mortuary for a fully qualified Senior Anatomical Pathology Technician.
You must hold a certificate and diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology from the RISPH along with substantial experience working at a mortuary and in post mortem rooms. It is essential that you are competent to deal with all types of Post Mortem examinations including high-risk cases. You will possess a positive and flexible attitude and may be required to work some weekends or out of hours for special investigations, dependent on the needs of the service.
As the deputy to the Mortuary Manager you must have excellent organisational and communication skills. A sound knowledge of the current HTA codes of practice and standards is essential. In addition, you should have experience dealing with bereaved relatives in a professional and sensitive manner.
Fulham mortuary serves the London Boroughs of Hammersmith & Fulham and the London Borough of Hounslow. It receives and cares for an average of 1,000 deceased per year. Each year, an average of 700-800 Post Mortem examinations are carried out on behalf of the West London Coroner. The mortuary is HTA licensed and is a designated disaster mortuary.

Role Responsibilities:
Duties will include:
- To help ensure that the Council’s obligations and polices in respect of the Mortuary are fulfilled and monitored.
- To assist the Mortuary Manager to deliver an effective, efficient, and high-quality service in accordance with the service specification, business plan, legislation, delegated powers, Council policy, Standing Orders and officer codes of practice.
- Comply with all Human Tissue Authority guidance and legislation, professional development and initiatives nationally and locally in respect of the mortuary functions, in particular the Mass Fatalities Plan.
- To undertake casework of a high profile or complicated nature under the direction of the Mortuary Manager.
- To participate in the out- of- hours service and the on-call system.
