Consumer Electronics business based near Cardiff are seeking to recruit a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their successful and expanding team. As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer you will report to the Engineering & Supply Chain Director leading complex product development projects. You will be responsible for:

• Planning and executing engineering projects, delivering innovative solutions for end users in developing countries.
• Contributing and supporting market research.
• Scoping out new projects, creating project plans, budgets and specifications.
• Detailed mechanical design, using Solidworks.
• Managing internal and external project resources, delivering projects on time and within budget.
• Developing tooling with suppliers.
• Identifying suitable suppliers and liaising with them for design for manufacture (DFM).

To be considered for the role of Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will require:

• Relevant engineering degree.
• Proficiency in Solidworks.
• Experienced in new product development (NPD).
• Design experience in white goods, preferably refrigeration.
• Competency in DFM.
• Knowledge of thermal modelling in design (Comsol).
• Excellent project management skills.
• Strong reporting and presentation skills.
• A passion for new technology / engineering for low resourced areas / renewable energy.
