Are you passionate about improving the life chances of young people? Do you have a track record of delivering high quality services for young people?

We have a unique opportunity for you to join the Early Help and Prevention (EHP) senior management team. As the Young People’s Service senior manager, you would have responsibility for two services areas:

Our targeted youth work offer across the borough, which includes group delivery and one to one work and the Education/Employment and Training support, including the statutory tracking and monitoring of NEET.

The EHP service is forward thinking and aspirational. We are seeking an applicant with the mindset to help drive our services forward. You will play a fundamental part in embedding cultural change and seeking ongoing improvements for service effectiveness, ensuring that our young people are at the heart of the work that we do and are supported to achieve positive social mobility.

The benefits of working for the Council go well beyond making a difference to young people’s lives. As well as working within a supportive environment with colleagues that share your values we offer:

  • A competitive salary
  • A generous holiday allowance starting at 26 days pro rata (plus bank holidays) increasing with length of service to 31 days
  • An excellent career average pension scheme with employer contributions of 22.3% (Employer contributions elsewhere are typically 3%)
  • The opportunity to develop your career in a supportive service.
  • Rewards and Recognition for going above and beyond such as additional annual leave and shopping vouchers
  • Opportunity to purchase up to 10 days additional annual leave
  • An Employee Assistance Programme which offers free 24/7 confidential assistance, practical information and emotional support.

You will also have access to a huge range of benefits including discounts on:

  • High street and supermarket shopping
  • Gym membership
  • Holidays
  • Days out

  • Childcare vouchers
  • Cash back scheme on any medical treatment that you may require via Medicash
  • Car Lease scheme (Brand new fully maintained and insured car for 3 years in return for a fixed monthly payment via salary sacrifice)
  • Cycle Scheme (Save up to £320 on the cost of a brand new bike and equipment)

In return we are looking for;

A dynamic, energetic, and ambitious leader. You can work with risk, and you understand the landscape of Local Government and the challenges that we currently face. You are politically astute. You can manage large budgets, prioritise, and maintain a grip on service delivery. You will be comfortable driving change and running transformation programmes. Developing strategy will come naturally to you, as will turning policy into action, and action into outcomes. You will be proactive in seeking opportunities for service development, including funding opportunities. You will have substantial management experience and be adept at working in partnership with others.

This is a flexible, hybrid post which means working in Council offices and in locations across the borough as well as the opportunity to work from home.
