Job Description Summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Chief Operating Office (COO) for Group Audit & Conduct Investigations (GA&CI) as Senior Manager Resource Services. Reporting to the Head of Strategy, Talent & Operations you will be responsible for ensuring GA&CI optimally matches the right people with the right skills to deliver both the audit and investigations plans. You will engage directly with senior leaders, whilst also leading your own team to manage our headcount, recruitment and the scheduling of work.

To be successful in the role, you will have excellent interpersonal skills, have shown you can develop others in a project or line management context, and demonstrated your ability to deal with complex, fast moving and multi-variable operational and / or financial management problem solving. Within your team you’ll develop a deep understanding of what is needed for GA&CI to deliver on their plans. Whilst also building a clear understanding of the capabilities of colleagues in order to do this effectively.
Job Description
This role will lead the team providing the scheduling support for delivery teams, as well as meaningful Management Information to leaders across the function.
A key component is to ensure the effectiveness of planning, efficiency of deployment of colleagues, and skills needs & gaps. You'll also take ownership for confidently managing the FTE budget including recruitment, and third party resource augmentation, working closely with the Senior Manager Operations and Finance Business Partners who manage the overall financial budget.
The strategic viewpoint of this position will allow you to consider how best to maximise talent development and growth to develop and deliver our Strategic Workforce Plan while keeping an inclusive focus and approach. You’ll need to develop an understanding of the Audit and assurance environment, audit methodology and the key stages. A comparable project, consultancy or operational planning background will provide you with a “fast start”.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Leads the Talent and Resource Scheduling managers to ensure teams have the required talent and resources to deliver the plans.
  • Effective management of the inclusive recruitment and progression of colleagues through resource and talent activities.
  • Manages the overall schedule (matching of colleagues to work) on behalf of the Group Audit Delivery teams: 200-250 colleagues & c. 250 audits plus non-audit work activities, training etc.
  • Manage the co-sourcing (external resource augmentation) plan for the function to ensure any skills and capability gaps do not adversely impact the plan.
  • Maintain and be a great partner with important internal customers.
  • Identifies shortcomings and suggest improvements and implements approved revisions to current recruitment, talent and resourcing processes, systems and procedures.
  • Analyses key capability and sills gaps using data from a wide range of sources and identifies possible impacts on the function’s resourcing.
  • Takes ownership for implementing formal development frameworks for their team, while informally coaching and mentoring others throughout the organisation and investing in own personal development.,
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Develops clear plans in support of talent, succession, progression and development opportunities using the current skills and capabilities status quo and future requirements.
  • Sets medium term objectives and takes ownership for implementing a team's performance management systems with guidance from senior colleagues.
  • Develops strong relationships with all senior partners, representing the COO function as a key business partner to ensuring the delivery of the audit plan.
  • Identifies and evaluates FTE requirements to budget on a monthly basis.
Do you have these skills?
In addition, we're looking for specific experience and technical competence in a number of areas. While we do not expect you to be an expert in all, you’ll have a deep knowledge of some of the following:
  • Knowledge of LBG people processes, including recruitment, performance management, absence.
  • Understanding of formal resource scheduling, ideally in a consultancy, project management or operational environment.
  • Ability to manage internal and external relationships e.g. recruitment and co-source.
  • Confident with MI interpretation and ability to assess/compare progress of performance metrics.
  • Confident with using technology and data insights to optimise management of a schedule and utilisation.

Within GA&CI, we work in a hybrid way with all colleagues doing a minimum of two days from one of our hub locations (London, Edinburgh & Bristol). As you'll be leading a team which may be spread between these locations there may be some travel required.
