Senior Manager -Programme Delivery
The Senior Manager-Programme Delivery position sits within the Global Business Networks Delivery Portfolio, delivering projects for our business customers, both within the UK and globally. The Team builds and deploys infrastructure, software-defined networks, and services. The Senior Manager-Programme Delivery will be a strong people manager with refined leadership capability, providing leadership, guidance, and coaching a matrix team of up to 200, including multiple third-party suppliers. This role is critical to delivering live broadcast services for millions across the UK and billions globally.
The successful candidate will be responsible for defining and delivering critical outcomes, with an in-year programme/portfolio value of up to £20m in development or up to £100m in Capex. This role is based in any of our Ipswich or London offices, with an opportunity for hybrid working (3 days in the office and 2 days wherever you like).
- Coaching a team of brilliant people to deliver a wide range of innovative and market-leading Telecom products and services.
- Leading – mobilising and coordinating large virtual teams (up to 200), often working with external partners and suppliers to deliver against business objectives.
- Influencing - using domain and industry experience to affect programme/portfolio strategy and delivery positively
- Planning - ensuring the programme/portfolio is appropriately scaled and resourced to deliver the agreed outcomes.
- Negotiating - interlocking scope and phasing between projects, programmes and sponsors to deliver outcomes against agreed business demand.
- Driving - making daily delivery and prioritisation decisions to manage the risk level.
- Governing – responsible for all programme/portfolio governance, including financial, budget management (for up to £100m annual budget) and financial risk management across the programme/portfolio.
- Reporting – responsible for providing valuable management reporting across the entire stakeholder base.
- Collaborating – working across multiple teams and functions within and out of the company, fostering relations that deliver cohesive, underpinned deliveries.
- Communicating – working with CTIO (where appropriate) and directly with the Customer Facing Units (CFU) to set and manage expectations and become a trusted delivery partner.
- Innovating and transforming – continually identifying opportunities to improve working and delivery methodologies.
Essential skills & experience
- Broad knowledge of and significant experience with Telecom products and services.
- Proven stakeholder management skills in a challenging and political environment.
- Excellent communication skills, comfortable with presenting at MD level.
- Excellence in shaping and delivering programme/portfolio strategy to meet unit and company ambitions.
- Ability to think beyond existing solutions to challenge assumptions and existing beliefs.
- Extensive experience managing large, high-risk/complex programmes/portfolios to deliver market-leading Telecom products and services.
- Experience in leading medium-large (matrix and direct) teams in a large organisation
- Significant leadership experience and management of annual budgets up to £100m.
- Extensive stakeholder experience across and out of business, with regular engagement up to and including MD.
