Connect to your Industry

Investigations and regulatory inquiries into the audits performed by audit firms have long made headlines. In the face of ever-changing regulation and the ever-growing complexity and scrutiny facing the audit profession, strategically managing and responding to such regulatory challenge has never been more in focus and important.

We are looking for two experienced senior managers to join our growing team to bring their own experience and forward-thinking strategic vision to enhance the support we provide the firm on responding to contentious matters, and to develop and manage the firmwide actions resulting from these matters.

This exciting and varied role is central to the firm’s response to regulatory challenge and will enable you to play a key role in driving firmwide actions in line with the firm’s strategy of continuous improvement and having a market leading reputation for quality. This role will see you interact with senior stakeholders across the firm and provide an opportunity to improve not only your leadership and technical skills but also develop your confidence and ability to challenge the status quo and communicate such challenges in an effective manner to those more senior stakeholders.

These five shared values lead every decision we make and action we take, guiding us to deliver impact how and where it matters most.

External inspections by the regulator continue to grow in rigor and importance. In the face of ever-changing regulation and the ever-growing complexity and scrutiny facing the audit profession, strategically managing and responding to such regulatory challenge has never been more important.

We are looking for an experienced senior manager to join our growing team to bring their own experience and forward-thinking strategic vision to enhance the support we provide to engagement teams in responding to regulatory inspections, and to develop, promote and drive firmwide actions to deliver sustained high-quality audits.

This exciting and varied role is central to the firm’s response to regulatory challenge and will enable you to play a key role in driving firmwide actions in line with the firm’s strategy of continuous improvement and having a market leading reputation for quality. This role will see you interact with senior stakeholders across the firm, including exposure to Audit Leadership and work directly with our regulators. The role provides an opportunity to improve not only your leadership and technical skills but also develop your confidence and ability to challenge the status quo and communicate such challenges in an effective manner to those more senior stakeholders.

Connect to your skills and professional experience

The senior manager in this role will work within the National Accounting and Assurance (NAA) department. This division of the firm is responsible for a variety of quality, risk, regulatory and compliance projects and support activities. More specifically, you will sit in the Risk, Regulation and Public Policy team who are responsible for managing risk, responding to regulatory challenge and for interacting with key stakeholders regarding our public policy strategy.

Your role will include the following typical activities:

  • Working with engagement teams during external inspections, providing support and coaching throughout the inspection process
  • Consulting and working alongside the wider teams in NAA, for example audit excellence and risk, to respond to regulatory findings in relation to both engagement file and quality control inspections
  • Inputting into the development of actions to respond to regulatory findings
  • Identifying and linking learnings from engagement inspections into the audit business and ensuring that learnings are communicated.
  • Using lessons learnt from regulatory inspections to input into other ad-hoc projects related to improving audit quality.
  • Assisting with regular reporting to the Audit Executive and the firm’s Audit Governance Board
  • You will work closely with audit teams in the business units to provide support and coaching during external inspections.

Essential skills and experience:

  • Experienced auditor with proven qualification experience
  • Accountancy qualification (ACA, ACCA or equivalent)
  • Knowledge and experience of ISAs (UK)
  • Skilled communicators with strong interpersonal abilities at all levels.
  • Professional written and oral communication skills
  • Enthusiastic team players that can also be relied upon to solve problems on their own and use initiative.
  • Flexible-multi-tasking: This is a dynamic role requiring the ability to work to tight deadlines with competing priorities.
  • Discretion: you will be required to sign an enhanced confidentiality agreement and will be subject to certain investment restrictions.

Desirable:

  • Experience working on large, complex and/or high risk audits
  • Experience working in an audit risk and regulation / similar role.
  • Experience in dealing with regulatory inspections whether from the FRC, PCAOB or the ICAEW.

Personal independence
