Job description
We are looking for an enthusiastic, motivated and versatile person with a strong commitment to the delivery of high-quality services. This is an excellent opportunity to gain professional experience in a varied and interesting role across both the English Faculty Library and the Philosophy & Theology Faculties Library.
You will make a substantial contribution to reader services, including overseeing circulation procedures at the EFL, and playing a key role in the delivery of information skills training. You will provide an effective response to the full range of reader enquiries, and develop and maintain the libraries’ social media presence.
You will have a strong customer service focus, excellent communication and team-working skills, and the ability to cope under pressure. You will have an aptitude for delivering information skills training and be able to respond appropriately to the needs of academic library users.
You will be able to demonstrate excellent IT, administrative and organisational skills, including knowledge of library management systems and familiarity with relevant electronic resources.
This is a full-time role, working 36.5 hours per week. The appointment is fixed-term until 31 July 2025. The role is expected to be based usually at the EFL for 3 days a week and the PTFL for 2 days a week, but the pattern may vary.
Our staff and students come from all over the world, and we proudly promote a friendly and inclusive culture. Diversity is positively encouraged, through diverse groups and champions, as well as several family-friendly policies, such as the right to apply for flexible working and support for staff returning from periods of extended absence, for example shared parental leave.
The annual leave entitlement for full-time posts is 30 days, plus bank holiday allowance. University employees are also eligible to join the relevant pension scheme for their role. Further information on the University’s staff benefits for both work and personal life can be found here: https://hr.admin.ox.ac.uk/staff-benefits.
