Job description
The Chinese Section at Cambridge University Libraries seeks a three-year fixed term Senior Library Assistant to support the Head of Chinese Section to manage and develop its Chinese language collections. The Chinese Section is one of four within the current African and Asian Collections group, within a new Department of World Collections.
The postholder will support the Head of Chinese Section in a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: complex reader services and reference work, including handling requests for acquisitions and providing support for users; planning and leading sessions for undergraduate and postgraduate students from FAMES and other Faculties or Departments, both with and in lieu of the Head of Chinese Section; leading on and managing small collections-focused projects, such as identifying material for movement to the LSF; supervising other staff members when the Head of Chinese Section is absent. The Head of Chinese Section may also from time to time require the role-holder to perform other duties appropriate to the grade of the post.
Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available for 3 years in the first instance.
