Job description
Libraries Customer Services: George Green, James C-G
Are you passionate about customer service and looking for a role that’s filled with variety and challenge, working in a multicultural community? We are looking for enthusiastic, welcoming and customer-focussed people to lead our Customer Services Team based at George Green Library. We know that having colleagues from a wide range of groups and backgrounds is key to a good, supportive workplace and even better services. We are particularly keen to receive applications from groups who are currently under-represented in Libraries in the UK, such as people from Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic backgrounds.
As a team leader in Customer Services, you will take day-to-day responsibility for the delivery of high-quality frontline services. Working flexibly, you will proactively manage the efficient running of a wide range of services at one or more sites, ensuring that the library is safe and inclusive for all.
You will lead a team of staff that deliver a warm welcome and a great experience to our customers – both in person and virtually. You’ll need to work independently at times, prioritising and managing your workload effectively, whilst working with colleagues across all areas of University of Nottingham Libraries. You will also be responsible for recruitment, training, and supporting your team’s development.
We are committed to providing competitive employment packages that support your well-being and help you reach your full potential. You will have access to a benefits package, including leading fitness and health facilities, staff discounts and travel schemes, along with a generous holiday allowance and pension scheme.
The post is offered on a part time, permanent contract. Hours of work are 27.5 hours per week. Mon 2pm – 10pm, Thurs 8am -4pm, Fri 2pm – 10pm, Sun 9.30am – 5pm.
Please note some training may occur outside these hours. You will also work one public holiday/University Closure Day per year. To help deliver a full service, you may also be required to occasionally work at other libraries across our Nottingham campuses.
Don’t meet every single requirement? Studies have shown that women and people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic backgrounds are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single qualification. Within Libraries, we are dedicated to building a diverse and inclusive workplace, so if you’re excited about this role but your experience doesn’t align perfectly with every requirement in the job description, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be just the right candidate.
Informal enquiries may be addressed to Rachel French, email [email protected]. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
