Job description
Senior Lettings Consultant
We’re looking for an experienced and highly driven Senior Lettings Consultant to help us expand our fast-growing estate agency. Someone with a proven history of success within the lettings industry and winning new business. There will be an opportunity to progress to a higher position within the Lettings Department based on performance.
What does the job involve?
As a Senior Lettings Consultant for Lixing, you’ll be helping to close deals, process tenancies, and win business within our existing lettings department of our property consultancy.
At a high level, that means you’ll be working to five main objectives:
- Ensuring property compliance on behalf of all of our landlords
- Conducting viewings with tenants and agreeing lets for the properties we are marketing
- Driving new business to increase the number of lettings properties we manage.
- Supporting the lettings team with training and coaching as they hit and exceed their targets.
- Working with the company director to improve and develop the lettings department as it grows – including its marketing efforts, infrastructure, and overall efficiency.
That covers the high-level goals. So what about your daily work?
On a day-to-day basis, you’ll be:
- Conducting viewings for new lettings properties.
- Attending valuations and delivering new instructions
- Working with the Marketing Manager to generate leads for new landlords
- Occasionally supporting our property management department to communicate with our landlords, including repairs and paying for bills on landlord's behalf
- And processing tenancy agreements from start to finish.
Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Enthusiastic, patient, and friendly, and is always willing to provide great customer service.
- Someone who is willing to continually learn about changes in lettings legislation.
- A team player, and is able to get along with the office.
- Pays very close attention to detail, including in their communication with team members and clients, as well as in any marketing materials that are produced.
- Able to act with integrity at all times.
That means we need a Senior Lettings Consultant with:
- At least 3 years experience in the lettings industry
- Ideally, recent experience in a client facing role
- A Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)
Beyond these essentials, we’re also especially interested in anyone who’s:
- Qualified to industry-recognised standards (such as NAEA, NFOPP, and ARLA).
- Fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin (both speaking and typing)
(These last two are ideal, and not strictly required – but they would be a welcome bonus!)
And of course, we’re looking for a Senior Lettings Consultant with all of the usual professional qualities you’d expect for the role, including:
- Knowledge of property law and compliance
- A strong willingness to continually learn about lettings legislation in a changing environment
- A warm and professional approach to customer services (including an impeccable telephone manner)
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a genuine and trustworthy persona
- Strong negotiation skills, driven by a business-winning mentality
- A general fluency with IT and computer work, including knowledge of standard letting agency software
- Strong time management and organisational skills
- And an outstanding attention to detail, with an affinity for solving problems.
What will your responsibilities be?
As a Senior Lettings Consultant, you’ll be working with the company director to oversee, develop and grow the lettings department. That means you’ll be responsible for:
- Monitoring and assessing the performance and activities of our competitors
- And liaising with the company director to analyse the performance of the lettings department, the ongoing market conditions, and any other relevant issues that may arise.
*Why work for us?
- A basic salary up to £20,000, with an OTE of £34,000 to £42,000 (this basic salary may be increased for the perfect candidate).
- Guaranteed commission for up to 3 months.
We’ll be there to give you the ongoing training you need to develop your skills and become more proficient at your job. You’ll get a phone and a laptop, and all of the equipment and software you need.
We’ll regularly review your salary, with the opportunity for increases and raises in the future.
You’ll be eligible to earn additional commission and referral fees on top of your regular salary (depending on the work, and the approval of your line manager).
You’ll get the chance to learn the estate agency industry, the UK property market – and even the chance to learn a new language!
And finally, you’ll get to work with a close-knit team on a daily basis, and see the direct impact your work is having on the success of the company as it scales and grows.
This is an opportunity to become a core member of a rapidly growing company – to work closely with and learn from the founding team, developing your knowledge and skills and cementing your place in the company as it continues to expand.
So if you’re looking for a new role with a huge opportunity to grow and learn, we’d love to talk to you about what you can do.
