Job description
We need you to have:
- Knowledge of LC-MS, both theoretically and practically, substantial (> 3 years) previous experience in this area and a chemistry background is essential.
- Excellent interpretation skills, analytical thinking and problem solving, good IT literacy skills
- Wider knowledge of other chromatography techniques such as HPLC, GC and GPC would be beneficial.
- Planning and organisational skills including effective time and work management
- Customer focus, demonstration of commercial awareness and client communication skills
- Experience of working to Quality standards and awareness of Safety and the importance of working in a proactive safety culture.
- Initiative and self-development orientation with the ability to work independently and as part of a team Able to understand client requirements and formulate plan of action involving own technique(s), sometimes involving workers form other teams as necessary
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The primary focus of the role is to lead the HPLC service delivery from Intertek Wilton and the provision of high-quality analytical services for Intertek’s broad range of clients across many different industry sectors . To provide solutions to problems by the development of novel applications of liquid chromatography- mass spectroscopy techniques
- The principal accountability of the job holder will be to develop the Wilton LC-MS service offering in response to the wide range of enquiries arising from Intertek Wilton’s broad client base. This includes, but is not limited to, the following activities:
- To develop and maintain Intertek Wilton’s customer base for LC-MS services by direct client contact.
- In own area of analytical competence, develop, validate and document novel experimental approaches to provide solutions for customers’ problems. Carry out experimental work, interpret results, and provide written reports in a timely and accurate manner to meet customer requirements and in line with customer expectations.
- Liaise with Intertek Wilton’s project managers to devise scientific and strategic analytical plans.
- Training, and sometimes mentoring, of junior staff
