Investment Consultant - Fiduciary Management (Delegated Solutions) - London, Bristol, Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool, or Edinburgh and flexible/remote working available

You will be based from one of our following offices; London, Woking, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool or Edinburgh and will be given the opportunity to work remotely/flexibly
As the Investment Consultant in our Delegated Solutions (DS) International Client Team you will be joining our successful and rapidly growing multi-disciplined DS team with 25 colleagues across the UK, Lisbon and India, which leverages Mercer’s market leading investment expertise to deliver a range of sophisticated fiduciary management solutions to a wide range of institutional clients (pension schemes, insurance companies, endowments and foundations, charities and wealth management)
Mercer is one of the fastest growing investment solutions entities globally and the successful candidate will be joining the International (ex US) team looking after 739 client accounts on across 25 countries, totalling $120bn AUM
This is an incredibly opportunity to work on a wide range of clients as a trusted advisor, engaging directly with trustee boards and other stakeholders and advisors
We take on the responsibility delegated to us for managing our client’s assets on a day to day basis, to deliver better outcomes for them and their primary beneficiaries - we can achieve this by leveraging the scale, infrastructure and range of investment solutions available at Mercer
As a key member of the DS International Client Team, your core responsibilities include working closely with the wider DS team (Strategy, Portfolio Management, Business Development, Risk and Operations, Onboarding, Performance Reporting) and Consultant Directors to deliver investment strategies focussed on solving our clients’ needs and adding value to client solutions
During your first 3 - 9 months whilst proving your strong pensions and client skills you will be coached on Mercer's policies and processes by your line manager and peers

We will count on you to:
Develop/maintain a deep understanding of client needs and requirements ensuring excellent client service
Build relationships with all key stakeholders associated with the client (trustees, sponsors, third party advisors)
Play a leading role in managing client and project workflow to ensure that we are delivering to meet the needs of our clients
Delegate work to analysts, provide guidance and review, and act as a coach/mentor to junior colleagues
Maintain and check technical accuracy, reasonableness of own work and that of others
Supporting lead consultants with, and in some cases leading on, client communications including DS strategy changes, asset class manager and structure changes, market updates, funding level trigger breaches, monthly client dashboards
Taking ownership of day to day client, consultant and regular audit, accounting and reporting queries
Collaborate on specific projects, including but not limited to becoming an expert on certain Mercer funds, developing reporting and client ready materials, and the improvement of internal processes.
What you need to have:
Strong investment experience working with trustees and corporates on Defined Benefit pensions within either an investment or actuarial consultancy role and ideally having completed either their investment or actuarial exams
Significant technical understanding of investments markets and asset classes
In-depth knowledge of Defined Benefit pension schemes’ assets and liabilities; ability to construct optimal asset strategies to meet clients’ objectives
Strong analytical and quantitative experience of modelling, performance reporting and risk analysis
Well informed on defined benefit pension industry themes
Demonstrable and effective problem solving skills & ability to clearly articulate complex issues
Understanding of Mercer’s capabilities and key products spanning a variety of asset classes

Excellent planning and organisational skills in order to prioritise and effectively manage a wide variety of ongoing tasks
Ideally qualified Actuary or CFA
