Contract Type : Full-time, Permanent

Location: County Hall, Northallerton – Hybrid (currently the team work together at County Hall on a Tuesday and Wednesday)

Our HR Shared Service Team (HRSST) are part of the HR service at NYCC (soon to be NYC) primarily providing an HR enquiry service via phone and email alongside dedicated HR casework support to all of the four directorates within North Yorkshire County Council plus a number of external customers. The team also undertake a number of other activities including delivering manager skills sessions around key elements of our HR policies and support our HR Business Partner Teams in delivering restructures and service change.

Who we are

Our HR Shared Service Team (HRSST) currently have a great opportunity to join them as a Senior HR Adviser. Our HRSST are part of the HR service at NYCC primarily providing an HR enquiry service via phone and email and HR casework support to the four directorates within North Yorkshire County Council plus a number of external customers. The team also undertake a number of other activities including delivering manager skills sessions around key elements of our HR policies and support our HR Business Partner Teams in delivering restructures and service change.

We are a busy front facing team based at County Hall in Northallerton (every Tuesday and Wednesday) but work in a hybrid way with opportunities to also work from home and/or other council offices as appropriate. The ability to travel across the county to deliver our service when required is however essential.

Our entry level HR Advisor role is varied, challenging, and rewarding giving you a great base to start your HR career or further develop your existing HR skills within a fast paced but highly supportive team.

Roles and Responsibilities:

As a Senior HR Adviser, you will be responsible for a number of key areas;

  • Direct line management of a small team of HR Advisers
  • Hold a lead portfolio of one of our 4 Directorates being the conduit for sharing information between HRSST and the HRBP Team
  • Support the Principal HR Adviser and the rest of the SHRA team in identifying and delivering service developments including preparing the team and service for LGR and beyond
  • Lead on more complex casework
