E.ON Energy Markets UK is hiring a Gas and Power Senior Trader into the Short Term Trading Team in Coventry. In this role you’ll trade E.ON’s commodity positions for the time frames close to delivery (Day Ahead, Weekend, Within Day) and also contribute to the management of the prompt timeframes.

• Work as part of a 24/7 shift team trading and dispatching our large gas and power positions in short term markets for E.ON's integrated portfolio of customers and assets.

Main Responsibilities:

• Analyse market conditions and E.ON’s portfolio positions to drive profitable trading decisions against a clear P&L target
• Trade power and gas contracts in the bilateral brokered market, exchanges and with the ESO
• Form key partnerships with the Forward Trading Team to profitably manage the prompt portfolio positions
• Monetise embedded flexibility within the portfolio, whether from E.ON’s or customers’ assets, including battery storage and Demand Side Response
• Ensure scheduling and dispatch is correctly carried out
• Steer and develop new tools and analytics to enhance trading activity.

Essential

• Highly numerate with strong analytical skills
• A proven commercial focus with the drive to continually learn and improve
• Demonstrable understanding of the traded energy markets
• Very strong Excel skills
• Flexible team-centred approach
• Willingness to work in 24/7 shift rotation
• Graduate calibre
• Strong communication skills
• Aptitude in working with specialist IT systems

Desirable

• Coding ability in VBA, Python or similar
