An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Finance Officer to join The Abbeyfield Society and assist with the ongoing effective financial management of the organisations resources. This post holder will work as a Housing Finance Officer for the organisation and would sit within the Retirement Living Finance Team.
The Retirement Living Finance Team provides support, advice and assistance on all areas of finance to a wide range of staff, including directors, senior management and our widespread operational teams based in care homes, independent living, and sheltered housing properties.
We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join the Housing Finance Team with experience of working within Finance, ideally in a Housing Environment, to join us and assist in the ongoing financial management of the organisation with the primary focus of the job is to ensure accurate and timely reporting of the Supported Housing, Independent Living & Leasehold performance in order for stakeholders to make appropriate operational decisions. The role will be predominantly home-based, however, would require occasional travel for face to face meetings.
Tasks the role will include, but not limited to, are:
- Service Charges are set to ensure competitiveness and revenue maximisation.
- Rents are set in line with legislation and regulations
- Arrears are managed within targets and in line with Policy
- Income and expenditure is recorded accurately and in a timely manner
- Regular performance and forecast review meetings are held with relevant Managers
- Key variances and risks to Budget are identified and escalated as necessary
- Live forecasts are up to date at all times for all Supported Houses, Independent Living and Leasehold schemes.
- Respond to queries from Residents and Next of Kin in a timely and professional manner.
- Ad Hoc Financial Analysis
- Partake in Continuous Improvement projects.
- Supporting the Senior Finance Officers and Finance Business Partner with ad hoc tasks.
The essential skills and experience this role requires are an understanding of accounting principles, previous relevant experience of working as part of a finance team, excellent Excel skills and proficient in Outlook and Word, strong numerical, analytical and interpersonal skills, a strong customer service focus and self motivated with the ability to manage your own workload.
Other desirable skills include experience of working in a similar setting, an understanding Housing Benefit rules, experience of QL or similar Accounting software and an AAT Level 3 or above.
