About the department
We are seeking a passionate individual who lives and breathes fashion, loves keeping up to date with the latest trends and celebrity culture. You will have a strong understanding of our target market, an awareness of who the ‘Oh Polly Customer’ is and how to speak to our audience.
As a Senior Designer you will work closely with the Creative Director on all styles starting from initial pass-off to the production stage.
Working with our industry-leading team of designers you will develop innovative new concepts and colour proposals. Through research and monitoring our consumer and marketplace you will help identify opportunities to stay ahead of the competition and push the brand forward.
Key responsibilities
- Researching, developing and designing across multi-products, including identifying key shapes for the season, and creation of concept proposals.
- Reacting to sales information and liaising with merchandising to update and develop our core product.
- Sourcing new fabrications, techniques and trimmings, expert understanding of stretch fabric and experience across wovens.
- Tracking sample development, updating trackers and other teams of collection timelines weekly.
- Working closely with in-house Buying teams – collaborating to create fresh product, each season.
- Working with the sample team on fits on a daily basis, identifying and problem solving issues, communicating in a clear and concise manner with factories to ensure designs are developed according to spec & comments.
- Building relations with suppliers and advising factories on direction, silhouette, construction, key details, fabrics, trimmings and artworks.
- Tech packing multi product, peer reviewing tech packs.
- Managing and developing Assistant Designers.
We’d love to meet, someone who:
- Has a minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in womenswear designing multi-product in a similar brand.
- Expert knowledge of cut and construction - with a key focus on corsetry and party dresses.
- Strong commercial handwriting and understanding of our brand and customer.
- Expert in adobe creative suite (photoshop / illustrator).
- Skilled in producing detailed, thorough tech packs
- Is willing to travel internationally for sourcing and product development trips.
- Is highly skilled in design for stretch fabric.
- Is organised, a self-starter who will take initiative and has the confidence to push the brand in to new areas
- Thrives under pressure and enjoys working in a fast-paced environment.
