The challenge

You’ll manage a series of VIP events for McLaren at venues around the world that underpin the prestige and importance of the brand for McLaren executives, customers, partners, prospects, VIPs and at certain events in conjunction with McLaren Automotive. You’ll continuously look for ways to build out the experiences and new opportunities to drive revenue. You won’t be afraid to challenge the status quo and try new ideas that activates the brand as client groups change.


Your team

You’ll join the Brand Experience team and sit within VIP events department reporting to the Manager, VIP Events. The team are focused on delivering specific VIP events to engage McLaren motorsports fans, partners, prospects and VIPs. If you join the team, you must have an acute attention to detail, be methodical, patient and confident at building strong working relationships to manage through challenging event execution. It is also essential that you have a strong business approach that will drive new ideas and revenue and that you are able to successfully present these across the business. While you’ll have a focus on VIP events, you’ll also collaborate with those working on other championships to drive innovation, learning and broader development.


Your day-to-day

  • Conceptualise and deliver VIP events as required by McLaren to build and activate the brand and connect to audiences such as fans, partners, prospects or VIPs.
  • Review opportunities and build business cases to drive revenue and excitement for the McLaren brand through the medium of event delivery at major global events.
  • Manage relationships with clients, guests and venues to keep them engaged with the brand and deliver memorable experiences.
  • Own and manage all related budgets with a focus on driving revenue.
  • Work collaboratively with McLaren Automotive to deliver joint events that show unity in the different entities.
  • Oversee and take responsibility for the creation of accurate freight lists for all assets sent to each event and communicate to all parties.
  • Liaise with external companies regarding booking the freight movements and ensure they are within budget.
  • Ensure that on-site duties and McLaren standards are maintained at each event, including health & safety processes by all parties including outside suppliers at events.
  • Scope and lead the design process for all required assets to meet deadlines for events or shipment of assets.
  • Develop a gift concept with a focus on use of sustainable materials, to reduce waste to an unavoidable minimum to avoid shipping or freight where possible. Management of merchandise and gift ordering and allocation.
  • Post-event reporting including debriefs, rights utilisation, guest and Partner surveys, event sustainability (plastic use, waste, travel emissions etc).
  • Capture and analyse post event feedback to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Build tools to report all sustainability metrics and implement processes for capturing relevant information to audit and continually assess and improve all operations.
  • Constant review of processes against sustainable best practice and set guidelines to drive implementation and adoption across all stakeholders.
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with colleagues, Partners, industry stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Monitor competitors and industry trends and report on potential future growth opportunities to ensure the continuous development of the guest experience at all events.


Your Story

  • Fluent use of English Language required in both verbal and written.
  • 3+ years’ experience in the events industry or similar with an interest in motorsport.
  • Good level of knowledge of operational budget management.
  • Strong supplier account management and contract review.
  • Worked on a global level and understand complexities of event delivery in different markets.
  • High level of attention to detail required.
  • Creative mindset to bring spaces to life.
  • Experienced in working with senior stakeholders and C-suite guests.
  • Confident in dealing with challenging situations and relationships.
  • Thoughtful decision maker who can operate under intense pressure.
  • Interest or experience in sustainable event delivery and best practices.
  • Work is generally performed within an office environment with standard office equipment.
  • Frequently required to work weekends, work away from home and unsociable hours.
  • When attending motorsport events, the candidate may be exposed to high levels of noise and some manual handling may be required.
  • On event, the role requires long hours on your feet.
