Birch Selsdon has 181 sleeping spaces, working destinations, 2 restaurants, Vervain our all-day dining concept and Elodie, our fine dining restaurant both headed up by Executive Head Chef Lee Westcott. We have a selection of bars, wellness centre, pottery, craft destinations and lido, along with our 200 acres of rewilded land, where cows, pigs and deer roam free, and our horticulture team grow fruit, vegetables and herbs that will be foraged to use across the site. As Senior Events Sales Manager you will provide help and support to the team through coaching & mentoring, delivering training and by leading by example when it comes to role execution. You will be the driving force behind converting enquiries into bookings and putting together bespoke programs for our clients. You will be overseeing the reactive sales team to convert enquiries and also overseeing the planning team to deliver exceptional meetings and events for our clients. You’ll be the first point of contact and will be sharing our incredible offering, personality will be key! It’s an exciting time to be part of the founding team for this disruptive new lifestyle offering.

Who are you?

  • This role will energise and drive the team with closing days, demand generation weeks and other sales initiatives. There will be a focus on driving standards across the team which includes but not limited to; BEOs quality, maintaining & evolving E-proposals, event satisfaction surveys / shop call results, data tracking (promotions & cross sells) and financials - post masters (PM’s), deposits payments & schedules and monthly hotel credit meetings.
  • Leading the onsite reactive team, you’ll be responsible for overseeing the events inbox and ensuring the team is responding to enquiries in a timely manner (within the 24hr response time)
  • When applicable, liaising with the client to coordinate all aspects of their event, from original conversion through to the actual event, keeping them updated on all developments and proactively actioning requests.
  • Developing an excellent rapport with all clients, remaining accessible to them through the event coordination and execution ensuring seamless communication between departments and adhering to the hotel’s standards and exceeding guest’s expectations.
  • Coordinate and monitor event timelines and ensure deadlines are met.
  • That the team are prioritizing bookings based on client’s turnaround time & revenue potential
  • Maintain the highest standards of the meetings/group booking process to ensure a positive guest experience.
  • Ensures accurate and complete entry of all necessary data and group blocks in opera database program.
  • Weekly & Monthly Reporting contribution for commercial meetings and Month End Packs (forecast and pace reporting).
  • Always maintain good function diary management, including client details, up to date activities, a moving pipeline, chasing and conversion carried out as a weekly task.
  • Execute the Sales Strategy for Group and Event Sales, addressing need periods, blackout dates and wider hotel activations.
  • Ensuring that all daily activities are carried out and updated, and guest requests are identified & communicated to the relevant departments via the team in a timely manner.
  • Carry out any necessary client negotiations and use creative conversion tools to secure business in line with the objectives of the department.
  • Constantly review our offering and our competitors to stay ahead,
  • Ensure contracts and pro-forma invoices are sent within 48hrs of a client confirming their event, ensuring adherence to the deposit, liability and cancellation guidelines in line with company policy.
  • Display a keen understanding of BIRCH brand values and identify new and further business opportunities and partnerships, sharing leads with Marketing and Proactive teams.
  • Contributes to production of event collateral that showcases the product to potential clients.
  • Ensure team conversion ratio is met/exceeded.
  • Keeps up to date with the hotel facilities and amenities, communicating to the team and ensuring the hotel benefits are communicated to the guest at time of booking.

Qualifications and experience
3-4 + years in a similar role
Creative Seller who likes to ‘share’ not sell
A positive attitude and team player mentality
Revenue-driven.

Experience using Delphi.
