Senior HR Advisers provide pragmatic and legally compliant commercial HR advice and guidance to line managers. You will join a team of HR professionals who support and coach line managers, helping them resolve Employee Relations (ER) issues within their teams in a way that protects the manager/employee relationship and which fosters competence and performance in line with our values.
Main Responsibilities- Provide online and telephone advice and guidance for all ER matters, particularly those relating to discipline, complaints, performance/capacity management and sickness
- Proactively manage ER cases and escalate complex or sensitive cases to appropriate colleagues.
- Provide HR advice in accordance with service level agreements and business rules. This includes reviewing and tailoring supporting case documents where appropriate
- Promote the use of the Self Service resource for Managers in order to foster their confidence, accountability and self-sufficiency when dealing with and supporting People issues in their team.
- Maintain a positive attitude when giving advice on resolving specific situations.
- Provide guidance to line managers on how to manage potential ER issues at the informal stage before taking any formal and necessary follow-up action
- Providing additional support where the Manager has undertaken Self Service but needs further training or advice on how to conduct meetings, including meeting preparation and how meetings should be chaired and closed
- Ensure that all hard and soft copy personnel records are maintained and kept secure, complying with the obligations under the Data Protection Act and the specific requirements of the segment
- Record and follow all key advice and information on our case management system to ensure that case advice and case data contributing to Management Information Reports are recorded correctly
- Produce due diligence data as required and within agreed timeframes
- Support the ongoing renewal of employment policies and packages, including research, consultation with colleagues and stakeholders, drafting and supporting the delivery of communications as appropriate.
- Deliver key HR/ER projects with the wider team, including reviewing Manager Self Service Resources, improving case management processes, ER data information capabilities and relevant ER training.
- Identify wider areas for process and policy improvement to simplify the management of ER issues in order to improve the experience of line managers and employees, avoid future problems and better manage situations moving forward.

- Ability to provide remote ER support across different Departments and Stakeholder groups
- Experience of providing ER advice in accordance with relevant policies and legislation; OR experience of regularly managing ER issues as a line manager
- Organized with the ability to plan, prioritize and manage large volumes of casework and inquiries to meet deadlines
- Experience of dealing with a variety of Low, Medium and High Risk ER matters
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Resilience and the ability to work quickly and introduce new ideas and improvements to processes and ways of working.
- Good practical knowledge of current employment legislation and how it is applied in the workplace
- CIPD qualification or working towards it
