Senior Employment Advisor (x4) Talking Therapies Service NHS

Contract Fixed term: 20 months (Contract end date March 2025)

Hours Full time - 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday)

4 Roles

To manage a team of Employment Advisors that are co-located in Talking Therapy Services across the Black Country, and carry their own small caseload of people and provide support to overcome barriers to gain, sustain and retain work. Developing close relationships with clinical teams and ensuring that the team works to the parameters of the service specification and provides equitable access. Nurturing effective relationships with a range of stakeholders, including employers, Clinical Leads and DWP partners is essential.

This service will be part of the Trust’s Employment Service and will work closely with the other teams across the service line.

Main duties of the job

To manage a team of Employment Advisors, providing caseload management and supervision .

To provide leadership to the team and a point of ongoing contact to the Talking Therapies services.

To manage a small caseload of clients.

To ensure that the team maintains detailed and accurate case notes, action plans and participant paperwork.

To provide information, advice guidance & support to individuals for them to gain, return to and retain work, and offer advice to their clinical team about potential solutions to employment challenges.

To ensure that the team supports individuals to gain accurate benefits advice, complete paid job applications, compile CVs and to practically prepare for interviews.

To lead meetings with health professionals, partner agencies (voluntary and statutory sectors) and/or employers concerning the individual’s needs, including partner organisations that work with diverse groups to develop joint working that will enhance service delivery and increase opportunities for individuals.

To meet regularly with the co-location partner to build positive multi-disciplinary relationships.

To collect and collate statistics that supports the ongoing monitoring .

To offer advice and guidance to the Employment Advisors and the Administrator

Working for our organisation

This is a new employment support project for eligible adults in the Black Country.

There are 4 SEA vacancies available, each successful candidate will either be based in Dudley, Wolverhampton, Walsall or Sandwell. (This will be discussed at interview)

  • People with common mental health problems and long term conditions
  • People who are engaging with Talking Therapies.
  • People who are out of work or in work and at risk of losing their job or on a period of sick leave

Person specification

Experience

Essential criteria

  • An ability to manage a team independently, offering a reliable, consistent and equitable service.
  • An ability to initiate and develop relationships with partners including local clinicians, employers and JCP staff
  • Ability to develop projects and review team procedures to ensure accurate information collection

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Degree level or equivalent level of experience in a related area
  • Management training or equivalent experience

Knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Working knowledge of employment support and retention advice, and of the 2010 Equality Act
  • Experience of working with and supporting people who have mental health problems, LTCs or other unemployed disadvantaged groups
  • Experience of working on own initiative as well as being an effective team and supporting patients, peers and colleagues alike
