Overview:
We’re looking for an enthusiastic, proactive and reliable Senior Copywriter to join our fast-growing, supportive and diverse Birmingham Creative Team. You’ll be taking a lead on Jaguar Land Rover campaigns, creating and writing impactful, hard-working and responsive CRM comms that will cover everything from emails to social campaigns, printed and digital point of sale materials, web copy and direct mail – and for both B2C and B2B audiences. In other words, you need to be a brilliant all-rounder – and just as happy at developing big ideas as you are writing precise, impactful and responsive copy.
As such, you’ll be working closely with the rest of the JLR Creative team, including our Creative Director and senior writers, art directors, designers and html team, all with the goal of ensuring every piece of work that goes out the door is as strong as it possibly can be. We’ll expect you to bring your copy expertise from day one, but we’ll also ensure you receive the support you need to get up to speed on the JLR tone of voice, brand positioning and product knowledge.
And once you have, you’ll be able to enjoy as much responsibility as you can handle, together with the opportunity to present your work directly to the client and grow your profile within the team and the rest of the company. Responsibilities:
- You’ll be working as part of the Jaguar Land Rover creative team to write campaigns covering email, social, web copy, SMS and digital & printed point of sale assets.
- You’ll work to understand JLR’s Modern Luxury brand positioning and understand what it means for your creative work and copy.
- You’ll need to become familiar with JLR’s tone of voice, how that differs between individual vehicle brands and the kind of product stories and details we highlight for each model.
- You’ll build bridges with the wider JLR team to learn more about the brand, the products and our processes.
- We’re operating a flexible hybrid working model, so when you’re not in the office, you’ll need to be extra-adept at managing your workload, hitting your deadlines and keeping the rest of your team in the loop as to how your day’s going.
- While you’ll receive the support you need to grow your career and skillsets, we’ll also look to you to proactively bring new industry innovations, approaches and skills to the table to help grow the entire team’s expertise.
Person Specification:
- Experience in writing integrated campaigns – or at least writing across multiple channels - and a portfolio of work that shows us what you can do (even if not all of it ran)
- You could already be a senior writer – or a middleweight looking to move up
- You could have worked at an agency or in-house at a client (or both)
- You should be familiar with channel best practice, be mobile-first in your approach, understand what makes a great subject line or headline, able to create outstanding body copy and how to drive response once people are reading your copy.
- While experience of or an interest in automotive brands would be an advantage, thanks to Jaguar Land Rover’s new Modern Luxury positioning, we’re particularly looking for people with experience of writing for luxury brands, whether that’s fashion, jewellery, travel, hospitality or similar.
- You should be able to work as part of a team, whether that’s in the office or remotely, keeping your colleagues in the loop about your workload, your deadlines and your progress.
- You’ll be comfortable presenting, explaining and selling your work & thinking to multiple stakeholders, both internally (all the way up to our Chief Creative Officer) and to the client (all the way up to their Chief Creative Officer.)
- While we’re currently operating a hybrid working model, you should be able to travel to and work in our Birmingham office when required (we’re three minutes’ walk from Birmingham New Street Station.)
- You should have an interest in industry innovations, including how AI can support your creative work and copy - and be happy to proactively share them with the rest of the team.
- And finally, you should love what you do. You should care about the details. And you should want to make every day a school day – both in terms of your own knowledge and that of your fellow team members. Do all that, and you’ll find you’ll get it paid back – and then some.

Flexibility and mobility are required to deliver this role as there will be requirements to spend time onsite with our clients and partners to enable delivery of the first-class services we are known for.
