The starting salary for this position is £36,282 per annum based on a 36-hour working week.
Our Highways and Transport Service is excited to be hiring a new Senior Contract Support Officer to provide financial and contractual assurance for the Highway Schemes Design and Highway Improvement Construction Teams.

Colleagues come together at our office in the Merrow depot two days a week.
Surrey County Council’s Highways and Transport Service is responsible for managing, maintaining and improving Surrey’s road network. This includes 3,000 miles of carriageways, 1,800 bridges, 3,300 miles of footway, over 600 sets of traffic lights, drainage, and grass verges. Our total annual budget is over £150,000,000 – a combination of revenue and capital funding.

About the Role
You will work with colleagues in our Finance department to support the teams’ Designers, Project Managers and Implementation Engineers, providing accurate monthly and annual financial reporting. Another important aspect of the role is effective contract administration – this includes working with external providers to ensure accurate invoicing and forecasting, handling variations and ensuring payments are made.
We charge internal teams for the time we spend on their projects, and we use their funds to procure external technical and construction services. In this context a major aspect of this role is the monitoring of capital and revenue expenditure.

- Experience of working with complex spreadsheets
- Knowledge of accounting processes
- Experience of using financial management software systems – we currently use: SAP (including SRM and Crystal reporting), Unit4 – we are in the process of changing from SAP to Unit 4 (My Surrey) Intime, ETCi – (RedSky timesheets)
- A high level of numeracy
- Good people and communication skills
